Yeah great that you’re building this one Tony, my favourite from their series.
Plenty of detail in the Jeep and Chevie to keep the brush busy, nice start:thumb2:Comment

Bit more done today in between masking up the Hind . I never realised how many tiny parts there were in this , 99 in total, I think there's about 18 individual jerry cans each of which will benefit from a seam clean up for starters! Anyways the chassis for the chevrolet has been assembled and the cab and bed have been started. The wheels and tyres have had a coat of black primer , as has the jeep. While im on the subject of colour , what colour were these ? The instructions just show an unhelpful mix of revell colours , any suggestions for vallejo or tamiya ?Comment

William Kennedy Shaw explained in his book the enormous amount of special and not so special equipment the Long Range Desert Group needed.
set that should include all colours needed @ https://acrylicosvallejo.com/en/prod...-colors-71211/Comment

Looking good Tony. And yes, lots of bits! As for colours, the jeeps would have been in standard US Olive Drab when they arrived in theatre and would have been repainted either Portland Stone, Light Stone or Desert Pink (depending on date) at the depot in Alexandria. The LRDG trucks were, I think, originally Canadian Sand or Portland Stone and were then repainted in a bewildering array of schemes. I went for Light Stone on the Jeep and Light Stone with Azure Blue for the Chevy.
P.S. I was about to post the same link as Gary but got sidetracked!Comment

Well the paint arrived the other day , i was surprised at the colour , i wasnt expecting it to be as pale or yellowy green looking but its the right one so on it went . Next up is the wheels and tyres and then its the multitude of bloody jerry cans / rolls of tarp/ wooden crates etc etc . All of which need painting by hand before fitting .Comment
