Nice progress Mr. D...So, this crate comes with a V8 and a Roll Cage. Does it have a 4 Speed or is that optional? :tongue-out3:

Afternoon Wet and Wonderful Folks All Around,

It appears the fall weather has been dumping lots of wet stuff on us all. Good weather to sit at the table and play with plastic and sniff some glue. First, a big thanks to you all.....

But Bob, you don't have to push as there is plenty of room in my tiny apartment. Every seat is a winner with a good view!!! Thanks Fernando as it is too dark to do any hissy stick work at this time. I could have made an update earlier this week Mr. Benson and Paul, but I kept falling asleep as I started to write. Must be the damn weather. I am not sure Rick, but if it had a Hurst on the floor, we would know the truth!!!

Second, as my friend didn't have any RLM 70 and 71, I made a quick order for some and ended up with a nice set. I also needed RLM04 yellow for the fuselage band and underwing tips,

Now I am armed to the teeth with color for wing thingys. I have a Heinkel 162 in the stash and this set covers it too. I have decided to go with plan B on the wings. I have glued them together as adding all the tiny things just wouldn't work when they were 2 pieces. Here's why I went with the new plan. Note all the sprue C pieces,

The flaps are no probs, but all the little doo-hickeys that work the flaps would have been a pain in the rear to get lined up after painting and gluing the 2 halves together. So here's the flaps in place,

They sit well and are turned down a bit for effect. I then began cleaning up all the little doo-hickey things. After the clean up, I went about gluing them all in place. There a few tiny critters and the tweezers were my best friend. All glued up,

I am really pleased as to how well the parts fit. I haven't had any probs with fit yet. The cockpit is a little sparse and will need some help as seen above the wings. I wasn't going to go crazy on scratchy, but a few thing must be made and added. I also have been studying some walk arounds and had to correct one kit part so far. It looks like a measuring device thing under each wing (part B-24), but was too wide and needed a trim,

The one on the left is the kit part and on the right is the trimmed version of it. Looks a lot more like the piece on the real bird. I can still shoot paint on the tops and bottoms of the wings without too much masking. I can shoot them at 90° and not get too much overspray if I'm careful. Masking the camo will be some work though. I may also attempt some shading/accent stuff work underneath before the top coat goes on..….

Not a big up date, but it shows I haven't been sitting on my posterior doing nada!!! Thank you for looking in and more to come. All comments good or bad are welcome and I hope we have a dry rest of the weekend...…...….

              Prost

                Hi Allen
Wings look good. I reckon you made the right decision as all those itty-bitty bits look a real test of patience.

                Great attention to detail.
Not used AK paint so it will be interesting to see how you get on with it. Usually cheaper to buy a nice set rather than individual colours :thumb2:

Great progress allen , and top work with all those tiny pieces , my usual method of doing stuff like this is as follows- tweezers , ‘ping’ , B*###!, hands and knees on floor with torch . Repeat as necessary. :smiling5: Cheers tony

I was recently on all fours looking for a pinged etch...etch..etch...etch. I would have liked working on your larger sized kit. :thumb2:

Good Evening All From a Wet and Soggy Bamberg,

Rain is the word of the day and the last weekend too. I think the sun went south for the winter along with geese too.

I am trying to stay dry Rick. I've been lucky riding back and forth to work until this afternoon…….
Thank you Jim and the wings should still be pretty easy. The Ak set and the yellow came out to €22. Pretty good for 9 bottles of paint. Can't wait to see how it sprays…..
You are so correct Tony. That's usually my method too, but for some reason I have had no probs with the tiny stuff. The bad side is I have laminate flooring in a tan color and the parts are harder to see with this kit, when they do fly. Thanks Sir…...
Thanks Paul and if you get a chance, pick up a Tristar kit as they are really nice. Maybe a Czech 38T.....
Mine too Joe, especially when it comes to etch or scratch built parts. Thanks for dropping in.......
It's a funny thing Richard that for the Tristar/Hobby Boss kits of this plane, there are no etch sets available. My seatbelt set is for the Hasegawa 1/32 kit, so I have been crawling around looking only for plastic. Thanks Sir and take care...…

                            Short and sweet…..
I have been studying about 200 pictures of walk arounds and have found many things that could be added to the cockpit, but I want to finish the Storch in this lifetime. So, I will make only the basics and not get crazy. I have also been studying up on pre-shading and weathering for a wing thingy. I've learned some things and gotten confused by others. Respect to all wing thingy builders around the world!!! One item I noticed appears to be the throttle and choke controls for the engine (I think). It's mounted on the pilot's left side and quite noticeable. Some odd tidbits with some thin sheet and we came up with this,

The 2 white strips are for the linkages that go to the motor?, but will only go under the dash in this case (out of site will look good). I then mounted it up on the roll cage to see if it works,

I guess it will pass muster for the moment. Once I dry fit the dashboard, I can glue the linkages in place. It is supposed to look like this on the real bird,

Kind of a small pic, but one can get the idea of other goodies to be added. Not sure about the yellow handle tips though....

I did really want to try out the AK paint with my hissy stick, but our weather sucks and it was/is dark the whole day long. I hope to paint up the rest of the cockpit parts and scratch a few more this week. Other things have been done, but not worth taking pics of. Also up shortly are the seatbelts, but I don't have enough beer in the fridge for those yet.....

Thanks again for looking and keep you powder dry folks!!!

                              Evening Allen,
That’s a neat mechanism you’ve built, it looks like it does something important :nerd:

Also having some miserable weather here on the south coast in Blighty....proper hibernating season now!

Would be a tricky kit with those very small parts for me, you have done a nice job. Esp like those really small details bitsas in fitting of that linkage .
Not bad day here, some sun, but more nasty stuff forecast .
