    Hi everyone,

    Ian and John, thanks guys:thumb2:.
You’re not the only one who likes the look John, the double hull shape like the Super-Guppy or Nimrod is quite appealing in my eyes too:smiling:.

Well this one has been left to the back-ground a bit too long due to other stuff taking up the time…:sad-face:
Even had to dust off the model before starting again:upside:.

Having some time off does wonders for ones build-que, like this whale getting its engines and landing gear on.
Just like the rest, some flash to clean-up and some seams to fill, only fixed the nacelles with tape to show the shape of her:

Started the paint work, white primer and white paint (VJ 71.001) doesn’t show much difference on pics, hopefully the decals and gloss coats can hide some of the top seam.
A point of attention for future builds is to invest a bit more time in the seam inspections…:

Wings got a coat of VJ 71.276 USAF light grey instead of the Revell 371, hopefully that is dry soon so the others can follow shortly.

    Thanks for looking in.

        Hi everyone,

        Thanks Andrew:thumb2:.

Well this white whale has survived Christmas and the masking/paintwork in the past week:smiling4:.

After the basecoat of the wings dried, the leading edges were sprayed VJ 71.062 aluminium and the centre of the main wings VJ 71.050 light grey, made the last 71.051 neutral grey at first but that was way too dark…:

The two engines were a masking enterprise too with colours going from (front till back)71.062 aluminium, 71.001 white, 71.065 steel to 71.072 gunmetal:

Even though it was a smart call paint wise to leave the wings off, in the end main wings did have a gap on the topside…
Good thing it is not so visible as are the various dust bits on the gloss coat, seems to attract dust each time I clean it:thinking:.

Only the wheels to fit and then decal time!:nerd:

          Fernando looking good .
Watched a programe recently about this plane and where it's being built, and its role. Interesting to see it in action loading a wing section for the Airbus .

            Hi Fernando
Glad to see this on the go. Masking seems to have worked well. Looking good and not far to go now.

                  Afternoon all,

John, Jim, Tony and Chris, thanks guys:thumb2:.

John, that can be interesting for the scratch builder out there with this kit as there are parts to present it open accepting or unloading cargo.
Just need to cut up the fuselage halves and not follow the instructions as they let you use a template in the instructions to make the floor out of cardboard:thinking:…
Neat idea Chris, although originally I didn’t want to weather it but with your comment and a pic find online of a well-used no.2, I went along with the washes.

With this week being the last of my three weeks holiday I really needed to get this one finished, been on the bench for too long:rolling:.

The decals were nicely gloss printed and only at the tail a bit out of register but it was the end that needed trimming anyway so no fuss there.
Too bad they are quite thick to apply and a generous application of MicroSet and Sol will get them to fit in an acceptable way, the tail band is two pieces each:

Good thing there was some extra blue on the sheet as I needed some more for the band…
With decals dry, I gave them a coat of gloss to seal them in and then it was weathering time.
Wheels and navigation lights were installed too, only lost one of the wingtip lights so the other was tossed, doesn’t look odd without anyway:upside:.

Used a light grey on the white parts and a medium grey for the darker bits.
The light grey was mostly wiped off to leave only a slight amount so the panels are visible but not to look like it’s part of some backwater airliner:

Thanks for Steve and Si setting up the GB and subsequently giving the mojo to tackle this one :thumb2: .

Be a bit of a job Fernando to accomplish that , but well with in your skill set . You could have an Air bus wing section going in !

                          I'll leave now :smiling3:
