Si, thanks:thumb2: the silver and aluminium is just the regular Model Air paint, heard that their metallic line is even better. Jim, me too great that Airfix chose this version :smiling4: , thanks:thumb2:. Ralph, thanks:thumb2:.
Got the decals on today and apart from the top insignia all went on without a hitch, box says printed by Cartograf so no surprise there.
The top one had to fold around an aileron hinge so a couple of rounds of Microsol were needed:
Also applied all the stencils as indicated and save for the ones on the top wing most are so small they are invisible:smiling5:.
Some details like the wheels and guns to paint next, then on to the weathering:smiling:.
Looking fantastic Fernando , the Eduard set really lifts the cockpit . The paint job is looking sharp , by all accounts this new airfix mustang is a superb bit of tooling , it certainly looks it , cheers tony
Hi Fernando
Glad the decals went on ok. Decals always come after a lot of hard work has been done and can make or break a model plane. As you say - Cartograf :thumb2:. Looking really good.
Jim
Greame, Ron and Peter thanks guys:thumb2:. Tony, thank you, a superb kit indeed apart from the aerial and a little lower panel-line blob, the moulding was sharp and good fitting:thumb2:. Jim, thanks:thumb2: and so true, nothing so annoying as the decals ruining all the previous work…
Finished the last steps on this little gem last week, only didn’t find the time to post it till now, something to do with falling asleep on the couch after work each day…:upside:
When the last details were painted, I gave all the panel-lines a brown wash for the used look.
The spent-cases holes, a couple of vents on the nose and the wheel wells got a dark-brown wash for better standing out to the other wash.
Applied some soot too from Tamiya’s weathering set for the exhaust stains and around the guns.
Some satin to seal all in and the fun started to un-mask the canopy and interior, some silver found its way in but that was easily cleaned with VJ ab thinner:smiling:.
Here she is:
And as a link to the previous starter set GB with the Mustang IV from then:
Thanks for looking in and I’ll add more pics to the completed section.
