Gerry, really look at the real stuff 'cos some might just come with seamlines from their own mold. We sometimes think everything needs scraping and smoothening but might not need to. Perhaps the springs could have been replaced with wrapped wire.

    Cheers,
    Richard

Richard, think that trying to find the "real stuff" might be fun - not even sure how many would have survived, given how they were built - possibly some around though!
I like to get the mold and the sprue marks off, but if I can't, then hopefully they aren't too noticeable.
The springs are TINY!! Yes, could probably have made wire versions, and used a 0.1 (or smaller) pin to wrap round.

Decided to go with the supplied door handle, but with a little twist of a 'latch' on the inside (small piece of PE cut and trimmed with a small twist on the end)

On the 'home straight' now, turret and machine gun needs painting then gentle weathering (if I can do it before the April deadline):thumb2:

Thanks Allen, having a little break from the magnifiers at the moment (seems to be the biggest drawback for me - my eyes aren't as young as they were!)

Glad that it's so far away (though work is increasing, so not as many 'free days' as in the past) might see about a 'basic' base even!

Great idea, I was thinking a small base for one of mine as well.....time will tell.

Looks good Gerry. Even if don’t finish by the time the GB end date you can post anytime afterwards including updates don’t give up on it there’s no pressure you have lots of time.

Take your time Gerry even if its the home stretch...painting also needs attention after all that work. Pointless covering all that up with just a blank coat of paint...better to highlight the details you've added with a good paint job.

                          Cheers,
                          Richard

Not saying that it'll be anything like as involved as the last base was, but probably something simple as I've not tried to do snow in the past.

Thanks Lee, but should have the model done, possibly the base.

I'm planning on taking the time Richard, though work is interfering with modelling time at the moment, but if I can get a few hours here and there, it'll get done (just hoping that the Soviets had corrugated iron during the war )
