Thanks for setting this up Peter - I'm going to do the ICM 1/48 Spitfire Mk.VII, but for a bit of light relief I may cobble this together, as well!

I remember getting that as a Christmas present in the early 70's! I even had the electric motor, which fitted neatly into the Merlin. I can recall my father taking away my small brushes & giving me a couple of half-inch brushes, after seeing how long it was taking me to paint it!

Going to the shops tomorrow to see what I can find…..I quite like the idea of a clipped winged V but I don’t think anyone makes a kit….failing that I fancied the long winged VII that Dave had picked out as well. If they are not around I may go for a tropical V. Not going to do a Mk I , I’ve already got one on the shelf…..and I built too many Airfix IXs in 1/72 when I was a nipper…..

I‘ll keep that in mind Dave. See what the LHS has first though…..hopefully something a bit different from the run of the mill standard Spits….

Clipped wings are simple enough. The wing tip panel is one piece and has a nice clear line. cut it of at the panel line, glue on a bit od sprue or evergreen/plasticcard and sand to shape.
Or use wood like they did on the real ones...

I have the tools and materials to do that Ian, but unfortunately I lack the references, specifically, decent scale drawings…..it’s not something I would like to guesstimate . I suppose I could look to see if anyone does a resin add on

as far as I know, the ICM models come with clipped, normal & extended wingtips

These are of the Mk.XVI I made a year ago, the alternative tips are on the sprues, but obviously not called out on the instructions.

Oops - I'm afraid I've got into the bad habit of getting up much later, as well as having an afternoon snooze, since the back problems, so my day has slipped back by an hour or so..........

Peter would it be OK if the fuselage and the rear ions or painted? Outside at the kit unbuilt. Are we allowed to to add upgrade parts to it also

Painting is OK but to a certain point but just ask
                              Yours is ok
If you can supply pictures all the better.
