Ian M's Spitfire Mk II. Revell 1/32.

No you read correct this is another build.
At the moment the conversion is back in the box while I consider my options. But I joined the build so by golly I'll build a Spitfire! Lucky for me I bought two of these as I had always intended on to convert and build one 'out the box'.

As can be seen on the parts photos the detail is quite good. Nice and sharp and plenty of it. A bit more flash here and there on this one than the first mind you. Nowt serious.

After an afternoon at the bench I have gotten thus far:

This time I'll try to paint it as I go.... The habit of build first paint later is a hard one to break. lol.
So Lets see how this one goes.

Good to see you pressing on with a new one after the dissatisfaction of the resin lumps Ian.

Straight in with another build. No resin here to create problems.

            Day Two.
Time flies when you are having fun. Been far to long since my last Spit. A finished one that is...

Might have to put a bit more detail/clutter here.

The wing goes together well and only a light sanding on the leading edge needed to get it sorted. To the right are the cockpit sides that also need a bit more busy.

Overall I have to say that the fit is quite good. (so far) A bit of sanding here and there but rather that than filler!

Halves of everything. Loads of half wheels/tailwings/rudders/ UC covers/ every thing is in halves! lol

For a 1/32 I will say that the parts count is very low. (the sparse cockpit detail a testimony to that). 115 parts I have found on Revell's web site. Less than some 1/48 scale versions!
Anyhow... A bit to do yet so no panic.

Having read your thread title, I did wonder if ours were similar models. Now I've seen you pictures, no they are definitely not. I like yours, I'm just not sure about my vintage model, which may have been first produced in 1967.

Been grabbing an hour here and there the last few days, the garden is crazy at the moment and the wife is away with work. So garden and model during the day and war films in the evening! lol
                          Anyhow:
Got the tub/office/cockpit sorted as much as I intend to. The Fit of the kit so far has been top $ so a bit odd that they have put a late model seat in the kit (early ones had a vertical ribbed back cushion.
I'll paint mine the usual black of leather colour latter, As it is now its just 'Bakelite' .

Someone forgot to paint the back of the seat. lol.
Might see if I can sort a harness set for it...
Right now it is sitting on the bench, zipped up and the wings on. More later.

                              Hi Ian
All looking good. When you get a kit where the fit is good is always nice.
