Nick's Airfix 1/35 WWII British Army 30-CWT Truck

Well, thanks Peter for setting up this group build. I'll get this first post up as a place-holder and will likely make an actual start in a week or two. So, this is what I'm going with:

Its a new tooling from Airfix and their collaboration in 1/35 with Academy. Sprue shots:

Yes, not a lot and will likely build-up quite quickly into a sturdy model - unlike the Gecko Models example which I would be highly unlikely to complete even during the extended time we have on this group build. Incidentally, the top sprue is shared with the Airfix K2Y Ambulance that was released last year.

Instructions are the usual Airfix fare, being simple and easy to follow, with colour painting guides:

And finally we have a very small decal sheet and even smaller bit of photo-etch:

I'll probably attempt the desert scheme - my Grandfather served in North Africa and Italy during WWII as a baker and I like to imagine he might have travelled about in something like this. More later, once I get started.

A great choice Nick. A lot of the new Airfix kits have had great reviews. I'm sure you'll build this into a great model.

Ejector pin marks filled with Mr Surfacer 500 and a few small parts glued together.

More than welcome Scottie - this will be straight out of the box though

Well, with all the extra work the rest of you are putting into this Group Build, my basic out of the box build is looking just that! However, progress has been made and its surprising how quickly the parts are disappearing from the box. Chassis is all built up now and I've started looking at the load bed and cab. Nice and smooth going so far with the only little extra being to drill the tailpipe a bit deeper and open up the end to decrease the wall thickness.

Here's how she's looking at present. Bonnet, grill and wheels are just dry fitted at the moment:

Looking good Nick :thumb2: Don’t think it’s in the colour call outs, but the engine and gearbox on these was a turquoise colour……I had to look it up when I built the ambulance version…..

Mmm, I thought they were chunks of fudge at first. I need something sweet to eat now lol

That looks to be a nice kit that's going together well.
