Iβve managed to get some more done this week π
The airframe is pretty much complete with just the small bits and bobs to go on but these will be left to last to avoid damaging them.
Itβs a nicely detailed kit but one thing Airfix have omitted is the wing tip navigation lights.
This is the real thing
and this is how it is represented on the kit.
Room for improvement I think π€
First thing was to cut out the solid bits where the lights should be.
The gaps where the filled with some scrap clear sprue super glued into place.
The forward piece had a small hole drilled into it and had a drop of green/red paint added to represent the navigation lights.
They were given time to cure before being sanded and polished to produce the following results.
Not perfect but better than the original solid plastic.
Then it was onto masking the glazing. It took a while despite using a pre-cut mask set. It wasnβt helped by the mask set not including a masking diagram π£
Once this was done the clear parts have had a coat of cockpit grey/green paint.
All the other parts have been cleaned up and itβs now ready for primer π
Another update soon, thanks for looking π

On the downward slope now π
Firstly the engines have been put together. The cowling fit wasnβt the best but the gaps were filled with plastic card glued into place and trimmed to fit.
Primed with grey Mr Surfacer 1000 the wing area had a coat of AK Extreme Metal Aluminium ready for the wing walkway.
After the wing walkway and the flaps were masked off it was given its top coat using Tamiya LP 60 Nato black.
It will get a gloss coat next ready for the transfers to be applied.
Another update soon, thanks for looking π
Geoff.
