Mick’s Stargrave Troopers - Paint it Black GB

This is my contribution to the gb, Osprey Models 28mm Stargrave Troopers. As you can see these are multi part figures with loads of options. Construction will begin Monday when I get a day off.

They look fun Mick. You can use lots of creativity on the alien heads. I’ve made up quite a few of the Frostgrave and Oathmark sets from the same guys. Enjoyed them all. Interesting yours don’t come with puddle bases on the bodies though. Possibly so you can put them on grating or decking bases for shipboard stuff I suppose.

I'm looking forward to these Tim, always nice to try someone else's models. They come with round bases and for some reason I forgot to include them. I follow a guy on line who used to work for GW, Chris Peach and his show Peachy tips, he showcases quite a few different games and these came up so I just bought a single sprue to try. Frostgrave is also on my list.

Managed to squeeze a few minutes in this morning, all figures and bits removed from sprue. First guy assembled and they’re going in fully helmeted as a boarding party. I’ll look at some faces in the next lot. The bases are temporary as I’ve ordered some for Necromunda figures which look like the internal corridors of a spaceship.

An interesting choice Mick. I don't do figures, well if I do, I hide them in an aircraft.

Not always a bad thing hiding them away

Last work on these five for two weeks as I'm off on holiday. Got them assembled and cleaned up, plastic cleans up really nicely. Mounted them on temporary bases for now and given them a coat of GW chaos black.

Holiday over, three weeks leave finished, back on nights and mother in law ta have a brain op but apart from that all's good. The new bases have arrived and look really good.
As the figures are undercoated in black a shading can't be applied as obviously it won't show up so each figure is given a coat of nearly black paint, this is a Citadel paint called Corvus Black which is a really dark grey. Now I can apply a black wash.
