    DaveCov's Italeri 1/24 Willys Jeep (721) - Paul T's 4x4 GB

Thanks to Paul for leading this GB. My contribution will be the Italeri 1/24 Willys Jeep (721)

    Boxart:

Runner A - crisply moulded in a dark green plastic:

Runner B - Thankfully, there are few seams or ejector pin marks although there are some sinkholes:

Transparency Runner - Very clear parts. Decals are well printed and in register:

Unfortunately, my partner, Aileen, is to undergo an operation next Friday to remove a tumour in a kidney, so I am not likely to be doing much modelling for quite a time afterwards. In view of that, this is likely to be a quick build with minimal weathering, so hang onto your seatbelts!

Thank you everybody for your kind wishes. They are much appreciated.

I have had a busy afternoon. First of all, I removed most parts from the runners. The smallest parts were left on the runners so that they wouldn't get lost:

All parts were cleaned up ready for assembly, apart from filling ejector pin marks:

              The chassis was assembled:

              Followed by the engine:

Before I could start assembling the body, I got out the filler:

Hopefully, I will be able to get the filler sanded tonight and can continue with assembly.

              That is all for now.

All the best to Aileen. An interesting kit. The scale is unusual. Look forward to seeing how it compares to the more common 1/35 offerings.

                    Just a quick update.

I have sanded the filler and commenced the assembly of the body. As you can see, I am assembling the tilt as well:

Tomorrow will be primer day. That is all for now.

                        Another quick update.

I have glued as many parts as possible, prior to painting:

Crocodile clips are armed and ready for painting action:

Unfortunately, today is not primer day after all! I have almost run out of primer and went to my paint stash to get a new bottle and there isn't one! As I don't have enough primer for this Jeep build, I am saving what remains for any emergencies with two other builds currently underway. However, a new primer order has been placed and I should get it mid-week.

BTW, I have noticed that I have a part missing. It is one of the rear Cat Eye tail lights. I have checked the photos of the runners and it was missing when I opened the box. I will have to scratch one.

                        That is all for now.

                          A primer report!

My order of primer arrived this morning and I got spraying straight away. The chassis and engine:

                          Wheels, tyres and other parts:

The radiator and bodyshell, which has only been primed on the underside for now:

                          That is all for now.
