    Valeron's Airfix RAF Emergency Set

Here is my build for the Vintage Airfix Group.

This is a bitnof a nostalgic build for me as I build it as a child in around 1977. This particular model is dated 1978 on the box.

I bought it off Ebay and some of the sprues have loose parts. Hopefully all parts are there.

The decals have been basking in the sun for a month and hopefully are starting to lose their yellow tinge.

Nice looking kit, is it just the two vehicles or is there more and does it come with figures too?

The two vehicles plus a few figures - Someone on a stretcher, drivers, a few medics and firemen. I also have an Airfix Spitfire which I'm probably also going to build as part of this GB. I may then put them in a diorama together.

A bit of Airfix History on this one. I build this model in around 76/77, the kit I'm currently building is in a box dated 1978, and Scalemates shows the first kit being released as a New Tooll in 1969.

Thanks for your comments so far.

I've completed as much of the ambulance as I can before I start priming and painting. I'm now going to make a start of the Fire Truck.

The ambulance went together very well although there was significantly more flash than I used to as I've only built modern kits since I returned to the hobby. I have a few finger cuts from all the slicing off flash work.

That is looking good. A great choice for the GB. I imagine a lot of people remember this from their younger days.

This is a great kit.....done it many times

It is actually a weird one cos the crash tender is vaguely 1950s and were never painted red and the RAF only used K8 ambulances in france after Dday.......only know this cos the last time i made it i did some research into the history of the kit... ...i think i converted the tender into some kind of fuel truck

Never the less a great kit with all sirts of dio potential....look forward to seeing it come together

'Ice Cold in Alex' anyone ? Again, this GB is producing a great variety of vintage kits. Nice choice Mike, and the connection to your childhood, brilliant.
