    Spanner's Airfix 1/600 H.M.S. Hood.

This kit made its first appearance in 19 Canteen!
Same kit now after hundreds of different box arts......

In the late '60's?, this went the same way as Airfix's Bismarck. Both shot to bits with a .22 air rifle. My dad filmed the destruction on an 8mm roll film cine camera. The spool lasts 4 mins. and I still have it - Somewhere.

Here is the vessel. Hopefully, I will start the build thread sometime soon.

I might 'scratch' her to look like she did when she was on here way to engaged Bismark rather than her 'First built' appearance, as in the kit version. I'll have me a thunk!

Sadly it's the end of the Hood that is remembered rather than her history up until then. The film has a lot to do with that I reckon.

Love the Mighty Hood. Haven't built one since my last Airfix built one together with the Scharnhost.
Would like to see how the mold has stood up all this time Ron.

        Cheers,
        Wabble

Thanks chaps and thanks to Paul for suggesting and running this G.B.

              Time to make a start.

              The tooling is 1960.

Here are the hull, decks and sprues.

First off, I'll make a start on the hull and main deck.

              Cheers.

Do you got any actual parts in amongst all that flash?

I don't reckon those moulds have survived the passage of time very well. As Tony says though I'm sure you'll make a fine model out of all those bits.

                      C'mon now chaps.

Who wants to build a kit that falls together? That ain't model making.

I intend to try and beat this ba****d of a kit into some sort of shape. It will eventually submit and lie down and victory will be mine, I tell you!

                      I need a drink.......

Wow, I recognise the parts and it has resurrected a dim and distant memory of one of the few times my dad built a model kit with me.
It wasn't a great experience ,but he must have lit the spark, so I forgive him( a bit)
