PBI - Move Out!

Well, here we are people! Those Godly Admins have set us up and we can indulge our wildest, sweaty, smelliest fantasies as we commemorate those poor b-----ds who were blessed with the honorific 'Infantry'! The rules are simple - everything is permissible providing it doesn't focus on Donkey Wallopers, Crabs, REMFs (Rear Echelon Mother F-----s etc!!) Infantrymen/ woman, any period from ancient to modern. any format, scenario and nationality(flats, dioramas, busts etc),; let the imagination run free (I think I'll baulk at Sci-fi, Space Marines etc) but part completed pieces are OK. Really look forward to some exemplary modelling and self expression! I'll post up my entries as soon as this starts rolling!

I've decided I'm doing a duel diorama, so a small diorama but with two sides, showing the PBI, but not in battle, instead they will be shown "at rest", some US troops on one side and some German troops on the other, and in two different scenario's.
The diorama may also use a couple of vehicles and maybe some other accessories.
The aim is to try to show how each side relaxes, rests, deals with "down" time, etc...
I will be using some (but not all) of these figures...

I have a plan......not sure how to do a bit of it tho.....in fact im off to a shop today in search of supplies/inspiration

My plan is a panzer.....some troops grabbing a ride to save boot leather whilst a few others are walking

My problem is 'the road' on which they are travelling.........i dont have the time or skill to make a proper dio....even though ive been watching loads of youtube vids.......i just want something suitable to take some pics on........i did cheat by buying a FoG cobble stone base but i underestimated and its about half the size i need lol.........shame miniart stopped doing their dio kits........and i dont want a Coastal Kits base.......the one i liked us too expensive and not quite what i want.......but i have a plan.....possibly.....maybe

I know this GB does not start till Aug, but could not resist putting down a few ideas, so a sort of draft plan is forming, just spit balling ideas.
Not sure if the final base will be square or rectangular, but I quite like the idea and look of a curved base? We 'll see....
A rough estimate of size needed and it will be quite big!
Think I might call it "How the other half rests"....

Made a trek to my nearest model shop......about 35 mins drive and cos its a little town a bugger to find parking so i dont go often

Its not a very big shop so dont have much in but then i spotted this under a shelf......for what i thought was a very reasonable price......so it solves a bit of my problem lol
