Just checked out that website Joe. It appears the wells on that plane are natural aluminium. I may go with that as it makes the painting easier.
As for the main colours, I'm going to use Tamiya XF14 Grey for the undersides and XF52 Earth and XF81 Dark Green for the top - unless anyone says they're wildly wrong.Comment

Go for it Dave. Who's to say your colour choice is 'wildly wrong'?
Keep in mind general weathering /Sun bleaching / wear and tear. The list goes on and on and.....
There again, take no notice of me, I'm afraid I'm a near enough merchant....:upside:Comment

Dave,
I made the HobbyBoss 1/48 Kittyhawk OOB, also a 'quick assembly' model - very nice detail, with an AM cockpit it could be the basis of a really nice model
I also have a 1/48 P-38 Lightning 'quick assembly' that I got at a real bargain price
As you can see, most of the airframe is in 2 parts, engraved detail etc.........

I have to agree Dave. These HobbyBoss quick builds are really nice, I have a few in the stash including the P-38. Maybe they don't have the detail of the uber kits available today, but I don't really have the skills to do justice to them, so these quick build kits are just the job for me.Dave,
