Great to see this figure again. Ditch that plastic sheet!
Richard F. did a fantastic Scots Grey from this range a year or so ago.

Just a quickie to prove Ive not forgot about my french bloke , here he is minus tete , re enacting the final scene of Dr strangelove , and his oss has got a bit of colour on it too, theres loads more to paint and bits to add yet but at least hes coming along gradually

I never realised how long these figures can take ! Theres loads of different colours and tiny details to paint. Anyway ive got the oss painted and had a bash at shading , i think it still needs a bit of a dark wash round the various straps etc. but im happy with it . The man is a very fiddly paint job and although headless hes looking a lot better , again he might benefit from a dark wash to accentuate the shadows. His head has been painted and stuck in his helmet , theres just the chin strap to glue together and paint. I didnt attempt any blending or shading on the face , it was hard enough painting his eyes, teeth and moustache !! Heres some pics

Well the torso and the oss have both had a coat of acrylic varnish ( astonish tangerine and cinnamon floor polish -99p home bargains) for two reasons . 1 to seal everything ready for any washes i might do and 2 to stop the paint rubbing off while being handled. This floor polish is similar to the new formula johnsons pledge/klear , ie . milky white and fragrant! It doesnt give a glossy shine but is useful for sealing and protecting paintwork , giving a tough clear satin finish when dry. Heres a few pics , including the poor French blokes painting handle ( they dont like it up ‘em mr mainwaring!)

Cracking work on the horse Tony, and for a non figure painter the bloke's not looking bad at all.

Cheers ian , the fiddly detail painting i can manage, its the flesh thats always given me problems , we'll have to see how this one turns out .Ive been doing a bit today to this , mainly giving the man a dark wash to highlight any shadows and matt coating the oss ,although I think this may need another coat to really matt it down. Ive also cut the various straps ,harness etc from wine foil and sprayed them either black or white. no pics today though cheers tony

Man has now grown a head , and oss has had its first cost of matt. varnish . The straps /reins etc have been cut from wine foil , painted and are dry and ready for cutting to size. The next step is the fiddly bit, getting everything to come together
