Mark's AceModel T-72B "Super Dolly Parton",Beowulf's Little Armour GB,

    An "interesting" experience:
    • Rather odd white plastic - quite soft in places and brittle in others

    • Moulding quality very poor in places - especially on the link-and-length tracks where the joins were so bad I ended up cutting up the long top run
(which I didn't use as it is hidden by the skirts) to wrap around the sprockets

    • Wheels in particular needed a lot of tidying up - some of them aren't round and he axle holes aren't central on a couple

    • Gun barrel was warped but sorted by warming in hot water and then quenching in cold

    • Instructions are incredibly vague in places - turret and hull are only shown a 3/4 views from left-hand side so what the right-hand
side looks like is pure guess work

    • Many parts have sink-holes including one in the middle of the IR searchlight

Painted using MIG Acrylics (Oil Ochre and Russian Green) with some oil paint washes - still needs a couple of coats of matt varnish to finish off

    Any comments welcome

    Mark

    Hi Mark
Considering just how bad this kit is you have made a great job of it. There must have been times when you were tempted to bin it,

      Thanks Jim

I almost binned it when I was half-way through trying to get the tracks to fit - The photos are carefully angled to hide the somewhat crude joins.

It only cost a fiver and was picked up for the Group Build as it looked and interesting subject - but it's put me off AceModel kits. It could just be that they are "short-run" kits
and they don't have the quality control of bigger manufacturers.

In the GB thread for this I've posted Work-in-progress shots which show the strange discoloration of some of the parts - reminiscent of poorly cured resin parts.

Well done for finishing the battle Mark. This additional armour makes me think of drying out bricks on the tanks deck :smiling:

Despite the struggle it gave you, it still looks pretty nice Mark.:thumb2:
