Academy 1/35 M7 Priest

Calling this one done I think, Might tone down the pigments...it's only supposed to be heavy dust, not dried mud. Academy model, which was a joy to build, a P.E. set from I can't remember where...added almost all of it as felt it improved on the modelled parts, and a 105 gun crew from Verlinden, again, a really good little set. Tracks from Friul...new version without wires...and I have learned a lot about them. There is a link too many on one side, but it was very tricky getting them on without breaking everything off. Also, first attempt at a base, and photo editing.

I'm not quite sure what the bloke next to the ammo boxes is doing in this scenario. He is obviously supposed to be covering his ears in anticipation of the gun firing, but his arms fit so well to the torso...I couldn't bring myself to pose him differently...so he is blocking out his mate's incessant chat. His commander meanwhile is radioing in that someone has recently popped off a few 88 rounds

Thanks Ralph, Pete, Mike and Jon...Yeah the bins are etch. Annoyingly, the one and only irreplaceable piece the carpet monster had was a little padlock that you can just see on the left bin. I also lost one of the 'ladder' steps, but hopefully the weathering makes it look like it has broken off the real thing.

Nice one Jack, I specially like the open bin. Is this kit an ex Italeri/Tamiya or a totally new mold from Academy? The tracks just need a light pinwash of rust just like you did on the body. Overall good work. :thumb2:

Thanks Richard. Relatively new tool I believe, based on the Grant model according to the hull markings. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/acad...st-hmc--107485. All went together very nicely, fairly soft plastic however and a bit of flash and pin holes to get rid of.

Yeah I will go about the tracks differently on the M10 I have lined up. I plan to build and weather the lower hull/tracks first and then attach the upper hull. I struggled to attach them without breaking off various bits, and then found them quite difficult to weather post attachment due to the subsequent weight of the model and needing a good grip.

Thanks Steve, yes I do like the look of open topped SPGs. And yes to both, very enjoyable, with a fair few lessons!
