My 1980s-style conversion with period-appropriate Verlinden-style finish is now done!

Note how well the stiff track fits in the last picture

Some close-ups of the stowage:

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Verlinden-style model without some item magically hanging from nothing

An interesting nostalgic journey Jakko. It's turned out well. You can certainly appreciate why Verlinden was considered one of the best back then.

Well you certainly made a model of that...
Well done Jakko, dragging the past into today...

Excellent result Jakko
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

If you’re going to do that, go all the way, is what I say

I think he was one of the first to really do the more artistic style of painting, of not just simply painting a model like the real thing but shading and highlighting it to make it look better even if that meant it didn’t actually have the “correct” colours on it. By today’s standards it’s old-fashioned, of course, but he did pave the way for those, IMHO.

I must say I prefer more heavily weathered models, but it certainly looks OK. My technique for this isn’t really up to scratch, though, largely because of a lack of practice — as well as a lack of all of the Humbrol enamel paints that will probably give the best results for this method.
