Dragon Stug Ausf A, 1st version

Afternoon again, got re-started on the new Dragon Ausf A, I have built the old kit and this new one is totally different and SOOOO much better. Of course there are those dreaded plans and a shed load of sprues from assorted Stug kits and it gets a tad confusing. Fun trying to find the actual sprue and the right part!

I have two of these kits so there will be a stack of spares!!

The kit was already about 60% so finished the engine deck and fenders inc some PE

Slowed down and the finish is much better, no glue mark and better sanding of parts

    Actually enjoying the build!!

Forgot to mention, the body work is not fitted, thats why it looks a bit out of line.

Some may wonder why i bought 2?? The second kit will be an almost dupicate of the first build, built as an A again but of the second A series, 20 being built with a good few differances when compared to the first A's

the wheels etc are loose and will be painted separately

when I start the second A it will be built differently, had issues getting the fenders to sit and was worried about the tools etc coming off the fenders. Will try to add the chain's onto the smoke candles at the end, small parts and etch!

pleased with the build as its much better than the O build

Hope its ok to you ????

                      Nice work Bob
It makes me want to start another Stug!
I have to resist until the bench is clear!!!
I'll have to dig out my references as I can't remember all the querks of the 2 different A's?
                      Enjoy

Hi Peter, nice kit but those plans and many sprues some with same letter. In future i will colour copy the pages showing the sprues, i can then put it on the wall, plan is to save time going back and forth trying to find what the sprue looks like and find the part!

Afternoon Steve, are you sitting down

Remember that the 2nd A was built using completed Pz 111 hulls of the 111 production lines, were as the majority of Stug had hulls made just for the Stug but copying some Pz 111 things. The differances are

Hull side escape hatches, but welded shut, only two Ausf had these hatches.
Steering vent cowls on the glasis. No splash guard for the drivers visior, reason why, the steering inspection hatches had hinges front to back not side to side. 20mm extra armour bolted onto the front of the glasis. Gunners roof hatch changed in line with the to come Ausf B. Phew think thats it!!

                          Hope this refreshes your memory!!
