Starting to think I bit off more than I can chew with this my second kit

If I’m honest, I don’t think I would have recommended this kit as your first 1:35 scale tank, no But you seem to be doing quite well, and you can always leave off bits you don’t feel up to.

Sadly Jakko when I bought it I was very naive to what is now available and how far they had come along since I last dabbled. But like kids, it's here now so I'll crack on and do what I can. If nothing else it'll be a good test bed or experiment in how to mess things up!!!

Anyway!! Managed a bit of time on it today before the bad weather hit and it was too bad to make the transit to the garage and my work place!

Fiddled with that damn machine gun, I'm almost at the point of 'that'll do'.

The turret was my main focus today, fitting some of the transparent bits, aerials, handles etc. Was just at the point to start on some PE when SWIMBO declared a 'Mayday' due to a puppy panic!!! Still, any progress is good.

That bl**dy gun!!! Methinks the PE will not be included. Few more bits to fit on the left hand side and that's it!!

Fingers crossed I get a chance to carry out some more tomorrow as Monday and Tuesday are definitely out as little miss annoying is being spayed Monday and I appear to be duty medic those days!!!

Hello Doug,
See you are having fun with the TES. You are almost there with the Mg mount. You might have to do a three hand ballancing act when trying to get the antennae shelf in place. I used a slow drying tube cement on the legs and then flipped it over and located the legs into their location on the turret and once happy just held it in place untill the cement started to set.
Also, the turret may sit down on the hull at the rear, which will interfere with the fit of the bar armour. I put a shim of 10 thou plasticard on the turret ring and cut off the locating pegs for an easier fit.
Other than that you are on track to the finish line.
As an aside our little gem goes in to be spayed in a couple of weeks, I pity the vet when she gets hold of him, she can be a bad tempered little ....

Doing pretty good Doug.Im very clumsy when it comes to tracks especially indy links.I summed up the courage to do them on a Dragon Sherman Firefly until i realised id put one complete set of tracks on back to front.Bit of mud build hid most of my error.As for Photo etch boy it fights me everytime and not a fan of it.

Hi guys, well! I did manage to get through a few sections today, better than I hoped.

Mounted the (insert own expletive), machine gun and a few odds and ends, grenade launchers with accompanying PE! The antenna platform is now in place. (Two handed!! Mike but only just) Sneaky - those legs. The forward leg is a tad shorter than the rear legs!! (I surprised myself by noticing!! Awarded myself a cuppa for that one!! :rolling:
I deliberately kept a piece of PE back as it fits over the lens part on the left of the MG. Figured it may well make painting later on a tad more difficult!


Next up was the fitting the hatch cover over what I assume is the commanders position. (Should have paid more attention at Bovington).
Main gun mount thingumy:flushed: was also attached.

Bottom of turret was fitted and then after another cuppa - mounted on the hull.
Even if I say so myself - it's starting to look like a tank!!


Silly ole SWIMBO says 'Oh you've nearly finished then'!!! At that point I showed her the rest of the bits that still need fitting!!
"Ahhhhh" say she!! You'll be a while then!

Won't be working on it the next few days but will be popping in as I'm on dog sitting duties now post surgery.

The etch that fits over the lens - mask the lens and the three small ones next to it. paint and remove masking, then add the etch using pva, leave to dry and gently dry brush. This can be done after full paint job, but remember to mask.

As for pe I use what I can , any soldering required I just pass on .

Cheers Richard, I have an admission to make - I enjoyed the tracks!!! Going to research muddying the beast. Something to do over the next few days!! Weathering is a new thing since the 60 when I last dabbled as a very young teenager!!

Not just me then, (teething probs). I have a loverly hole that is kinda healing in my left hand - right on the fleshy bit above my thumb!!

I would recommend you don't sit on that little ragamuffin or you'll both need surgery!!
