    Willys Jeep MB - 1/4 ton - 4x4 - 1:35 - Tamiya

My current little project. Actually started this a few days ago, but forgot to upload any pics, sorry!
A nice little 1:35 Willys Jeep MB.
I may be using this later in the year for a diorama I am thinking about, we'll see....
So the obligatory pics, box art, sprues (already painted some parts) and initial construction of the engine, chassis and main bodywork painted.
    Pics....

Once this is built I may attempt some sort of battle damage, a twisted wheel, some damaged bodywork, a shell hole or bullet holes, maybe a burnt out section? Don't want to leave this one plain standard....
    Cheers

Watching with interest. First kit I built back in 2010. The driver was so cross-eyed he should never have been given a licence. Your build will be much better I'm sure.

Not sure if I'll bother with the driver, as I have this one in mind for a diorama at some point, and I want to do a battle damaged version, so will not be a driver inside!

Did a bit more this morning, just before I knocked over my panel liner bottle, all over my desk!!! [Doh!]
Luckily my old canvas sheet that I keep on my desk, under the two A3 cutting boards, soaked up most of it, but still made a bloody mess though......

Anyway, last night assembled most of the vehicle, see pics...

Click image for larger version Name:	willys jeep 1_35 pics2 (3).jpg Views:	0 Size:	300.7 KB ID:	1256570
      Then painted the tyres...

Then this morning, assembled the weapons, pioneer tools and windscreen....

Click image for larger version Name:	willys jeep 1_35 pics3 (2).jpg Views:	0 Size:	321.9 KB ID:	1256573
Then proceeded to paint pioneer tools and weapons....

So getting there, but still bits to do, tidying paintwork, final little assemblies, then on to weathering, etc....

Last update for today, been doing little bits here and there all day....
Its quite a nice easy little kit this, I'm quite liking it. 8-)
      So here's some more pics....
Underside all looks good, but will need dirtying up a fair bit.

Completed the actual build, and painted it all, and touched up the few bits that needed it as we went along.
Earlier I added the windscreen, and the weapons and tonight I applied the transfers.
Left off some of the very tiny ones, my eyes are just not up to those, even with magnifiers!

I have not glued the bonnet so it can be removed as the engine is quite a nice little feature all on its own.
I have also left the windscreen so that it can be lowered or raised, so not fixed it one position.
I might have a go at making the windscreen mucky, so that it then has those iconic wiper shaped curves on it, we'll see...

Transfers/decals went on easy enough, I added some micro sol/set while applying them, so hopefully they will dry and adhere well.

On this model I did not gloss coat it prior to adding the decals.(Controversial maybe?) as I've seen a couple of YT clips where peeps just apply straight to the model and one guy just sands down the area where transfers will be applied with 1000 -1500 grit, which is what I did on this one, quick rub with 1500 to smooth the surface and the decals went on fine.

I will put a clear coat on tomorrow to seal the decals and before I start the weathering.
I've also raided my misc box for some stowage which I may well attach to this little jeep, as it only comes with one spare wheel and one jerry can, so is a bit light on carried gear. I have also assembled the driver and started painting him, but I doubt if I'll add him to the vehicle as my intention is to do some battle damage to the jeep at a later date and add it to a diorama idea I have yet to finalise.

Will hopefully get on with the final weathering tomorrow or Friday.....
