    Head lamp magnifier thingy

Since my eyesight began to dim a decade or so ago I've needed a lamp and magnifiers to get into the tiny details, I have one of those Anglepoise like like lamps that clamp to the edge of the bench with a 5'' glass lens surrounded by a circular florescent tube lamp, because I'm not modelling at a bench right now, it's more an IKEA coffee table kind of thing so, not ideal.
So, I need one of those illuminated magnifying head sets. . .

    . . . any recommendations?

Miko (I first noticed my failing eyesight when after taking photos of my builds to publish in forums such as this only to notice lots of flaws in minute detail! My camera is my harshest critic!)

I would go for one of the head band type magnifiers that you just wear, see amazon linky, but obviously there are many suppliers out there, SMS, Temu, eBay, Hobbycraft, etc, etc.
I bought a desk clamp type lamp that is also a magnifier, and used it a bit at first, but now almost exclusively use the headband type. Make sure the one you buy is adjustable as not all head sizes are the same and also that it comes with a few lens, they usually just clip in/out, but not everyone's eyes are the same, so having a few lens helps to find the one that works for you.
I now use two side lamps on the desk, so the work area is illuminated, and the head band if I need to see small stuff, so you probably don't need an illuminated head band magnifier, as long as the desk / work area is well illuminated anyway.

I have one and find it too heavy for comfortable use. I find it better to have a good light source and an optivisor. For optivisors the Donegan original is hard to beat. It fits well and has high quality optical lenses. For lighting, if you want to go all out the Redgrass colour balanced light is superb. Its adjustable twin boom design means it casts no shadows on the workpiece.
