    Kyosho Bladerunner Upgrade

    Hi

    Can anybody help

I have just built a Kyosho Bladerunner which I am very happy with, however I would like to get it a bit faster.

Does anybody know the best way to do this?

It has a standard 540 motor and a microswitch speed controller running one 7.2v battery.

I have heard that I need to upgrade the speed controller and step the battery up to 12v and increase the motor to 700 size.

Does this sound correct? If so does anybody know any good on line shops to purchase the above

    Many thanks

    Richard,

I found some interesting stuff see link below :

Kinda sounds like you would need to be a little careful .. the hull does not seem to happy with too much power/speed.

Certainly upping to 12V would help and the 540 can take it OK. Question is whether or not the in/out drive could handle it.

However this option adds weight. A 7.2V pack weighs around 288 gms whereas a 12V pack of similar capacity weighs 482 gms. So a fair bit of the added power goes towards shoving the extra weight thru the water.

You can get 12V nicad packs from Strikalite - pricy at £46 but they are good. I've been using them for quite some time on fast charging.

Best of luck in your search for ever more speed !!!!!!!

      Thanks IainM

Cheers for the help/advice.I will have a think what to do first.

Just out of interest do you have any good boat designs that will handle some good power hikes,I can only use electric on our lake.

      Thanks again

        Fast Electrics

        Richard,

Sorry for the delay in responding ..... bin doin a bit of omework!

I'm not the best one to ask about 'fast' electrics since most of my stuff has been fast scale boats or the 'plodders' like tugs etc.

I'll ask around the club and see what reply I get ..... I'll let you know soon as.
