I have done a bit of soldering already. I broke a piece of brass off, and had to solder it back on. I had to buy a temperature controlled soldering iron as the large bits of brass took the heat from the soldering iron, so it never got hot enough to melt the solder.Comment

My current progress hasn't been that fast, and the temperature is a bit too high to airbrush acrylics, so I have been building PE parts. Here are bits that will fit on the fo'c'sle. There are other bits, but they are white metal casting and do not need to be built.
Ist picture I was practising with a macro lens which shows my rubbish soldering. The second is using my phone and the third is a cable real taken with the macro lens
PE ready to be primed.

The next update is all about the deck and some of its fittings. The decks have now been stuck onto the hull, and the first few deck fittings have been stuck on. The next bit to do is the anchor and connect it to the winch

Are the Great Little Ships parts the same as Pontos?

Thanks. No Pontos are a far eastern firm, dealing mainly in 1/350 and 1/700 scale ships, not too sure where they are based, but Great Little Ships are a firm in the UK specialising in larger scale models.Comment
