This looks like an interesting problem Chris. Am I misreading this, or are you trying to get the guns to “fire” using the same mechanism as the gun elevation mechanism? If so, why? If you use a separate circuit for firing, the problem becomes how to rotate the turret and elevate the guns.....
Rotating the turret is the same as operating a locomotive turntable on a model railway....so look up some ideas on that and steal them.....should be fairly easy to do using gearing and micro switches.
The elevation mechanism could be achieved using similar ideas....micro motors to drive them, and micro switches as limiters. Look for motor driven (as opposed to electromagnet driven) point motorisation ideas to see what I mean....
