This looks like an interesting problem Chris. Am I misreading this, or are you trying to get the guns to “fire” using the same mechanism as the gun elevation mechanism? If so, why? If you use a separate circuit for firing, the problem becomes how to rotate the turret and elevate the guns.....
Rotating the turret is the same as operating a locomotive turntable on a model railway....so look up some ideas on that and steal them.....should be fairly easy to do using gearing and micro switches.
The elevation mechanism could be achieved using similar ideas....micro motors to drive them, and micro switches as limiters. Look for motor driven (as opposed to electromagnet driven) point motorisation ideas to see what I mean....
I’ll have a look around and post anything if I think it’s useable.....

HI Tim yes im afraid you are misreading this as im not tryin to get the guns to fire like in real all im tryin to do is make up an reprensent the guns firing by the yellow LEDS lights to look like guns firein flashes an yes ive got to do all what you are sayin about motorisation ideas but i will work all this out when i come to it thanks for your post on this but will go deeper into it when im ready cheers im now off up to man cave to fit in the ankor hawser on tiger x2

HI Scotties i wish i had your confidence in me that you have lol as this will be far from a walk in the park as this is goin to be mini engineering an ive got some ideas but it will be far from a walk in the park esp - on the small 3inch turret as when i do do it i will do the small one first an if i can do the small one then the big turret should be a lot easyier but firstly ive got to get all the servos an gears that are needed as ive already got a servo moph to work the turrets on a range curve more than a normal servo so ive got a start but it will be intresting to see how it all turns out anyway back to the tiger man cave as my filler should be hard by now

I know you will sort it. But I had a similar problem animating my owl puppet. I wanted the head to turn and the eye lids to move up and down. I solved it basically like this.

HI John well i got to say thats the most simple design i have ever seen an i never even thought of yet an as i said i really hav'nt thought about the gun turret yet but your idea is great an has merit an nice an simple an less to go wrong cheers an thank you for your idea

AN talkin about these guns i dint know the real guns were auto as i was talkin to a gent who has a 1/96th scale tiger an he is a member of the HMS TIGER ASSOIATION an he talks to some of the real crew members that are still alive an the big 6inch guns could fire at a rate of 30 to 40 rounds a minute which is quite a lot considering the gun size an the small 3inch guns were auto also an could fire 90 to 120 rounds a minute cor thats throwin the metal

At that rate the guns would heat up so badly, the accuracy would go to Hell and all they would be doing is throwing metal and not hitting their intended target. LOL :tongue-out3: Rick H.
