sandin sealer must be used only straight on the bare wood an not paint

YES Peter sand it back to bare wood an fill any large or deep dimples in the hull an get the hull reaonabley smooth then the sandin sealer can be used but take my advise an try it on a small area first where it wont be seen say the hull bottom an see what happens as if its ok it will look like water but come up hard an if ok then it needs to be lightly sanded down for a nice smooth finish like on my tiger hull an you can buy small tins of it as well as big like id did but mine has done three ship hulls so i got my moneys worth an make sure you wear a mask as it stinks to high heaven but the smell will go when its dry in a day or so

I have decided to quit sanding the planks as I think it's going to take ages so instead I am going to clad it with a thin layer of of ply it may make it slightly wider but I should get a better finish.

After a go at another sanding session I have decided that the layer I have put on didn't work so I have removed them and with my £5 boot sale sander I have got a better finish so I am now left with a bit of filling ready for the next round of sanding.

I have given a coat of matt varnish to seal the wood followed by a coat of gloss it felt okay but when I put paint on it still needs lots of work as it was part started when I got it so I leave it as it is.

Peter the hull is lookin good but are there any dimples in the hull this can be seen easy by holding the hull up to the light an lookin down along the hull lenght if so fill them an a light sandin down an you should be up to the painting stage of the red anti foul as i must admit my tiger hull took ages of sanding untill it was up to my standard that i liked an if this is static model at least you dont have to fiber glass inside the hull so it should now be easy peasy to carry on in the build as this should turn out a crackin build of the bizzy lookin forward to more of this build as you did a fantastic build of the last titanic :nerd::surprised:

When I put the gloss varnish on it felt okay but when put the paint on it showed all sorts so I have put a light skim of filler on and added some pe grills.

Peter i gather you are puttin that filler on the bottom due to dimples in the hull well this is just me i would not worry about the bottom as when the ship is mounted on its stand you will never see it in my opinion just worry about the sides of the hull as these will be seen but comin on great

I am just doing the sides as you say the bottom won't be seen.

Hi Peter
A huge model. A lot of work. Looks as if you're well into it and the hull is just about there now. Getting the hull filled and sanded and painted may be the hardest and most time consumming of the whole build.

Now that the Hull is finished the best I can get it I am now starting with upper portion of ship which mainly involves pe, pe, and more pe for the next ten issues or more by here's some of what I have been doing.

Just had a catch up here. This is a pretty complex build isn’t it. Looking good though, the hull is really coming together now, so it’s on to the superstructure…..

Finally all the pe I have been working on is for aft superstructure and has now been fitted.
