Hi Brian
My dreadnought in it’s current state.
I have fitted a veneer deck, a word of warning if you are contemplating this, the ‘self adhesive’ backing only stays put for a few days!!! I had to carefully lift all of the decks and add multiple spots of cyanolite to make sure it stayed put!!!! Just found a few more spots that need attention now that it has been bought back out of storage.
It’s going back on it’s work frame now and I may do a bit more in the near future now that I have seen your thread.Comment

I've never had any problems with the veneer lifting - probably just lucky! I do clean the plastic with IPA before carefully applying the veneer, using a paint brush handle to press down firmly in the corners. I also varnish the deck after a couple of days - this seals the wood & you can remove any paint slips that happen subsequently..............

OK
That might be where I went wrong, the deck did get a coat of primer, and maybe a bit of the base colour, used colour coats for this so I thought it would be OK. I have varnished the veneer but after the original problems.Comment
