As in most Russian WWII propaganda pictures, heavily staged. In the top two - the tankies are wearing medals - probably having just been presented with them. The centre one - note the fashionable shoes on the two 'peasants' !

... and I can't imagine tankies keeping those leather jackets clean and shiny for long!
:smiling2: Your right there the Dave's.
Suppose very few Russians if any had access to camera, unlike the Germans who appeared to be a bunch of Happy Snappers .There are far more pictures of Russian armour taken by Germans esp when they captured so much .
John.

That’s because the German army actively encouraged soldiers to take pictures and send them home, as a way to keep up morale on the home front I suppose. Whereas in Russia I doubt many people even owned a camera, or in the British army, where soldiers were forbidden from taking photographs.

Very nice to see this, obviously based on the famous photo. I am a sucker for the carrier, as anybody who saw my blogs of conversions on 'the other site' will know, so even though I a focussing on figures one of these may well find its way into my stash.
More importantly: spoilsports to modellers 50–75 years on.
Almost as bad as those guys coming up with anniversary paint schemes on aircraft and digital camo patterns! You'd think they'd spare a thought for us poor guys who have to try and replicate them!
