Bright reds and black how is that possible for light fawn ?

Ha Ha! 'Tis a dark art, this colour malarky. Many moons ago, I spent 3 years as a full-time artist, as a break from teaching. This coincided with having two daughters, which supplied me with countless little Heinz jars! I used to spend days mixing up a wide range of colours (liquid acrylic) for a series of paintings. I found this process almost more enjoyable than the actual painting! Looking back on it, I realise that it was a great learning process, coupled with the colour theory I had studied at great length. Looking at many of the models featured on this forum, I can see a wealth of beautiful work, and an awful lot of folks seem to have the colour mixing issue cracked! My advice to anyone who wants it (!) is to stick with what you know - every paint manufacturer's products are at best, subtly and at worst hugely different, and behave equally differently. As a returning model maker, I have bought a few paints from different makers, just to try and get the lay of the land. It's all very different now, with so much more choice, but the knowledge base of a forum like this is mind-blowing really!

The very nice thing, John, is the competition given to a call for help. The instant varied and detailed replies are a credit to all on here.

Having from my start in model making tried numerous forums I have found only two worthy of the above. I left this one for a time and used the other. Both are good but I returned here as this one has an earthy friendliness.

Yes every now and then there is a perhaps confrontation (quickly mended) which in my eyes is good as it reminds us how good this forum is. Why this is I have not sussed. But I can easily live without that knowledge.
