We have one out here in western canada too, also the International Plastic Modellers Society. Which I want to petition them to change their title to "International Society of Plastic Modellers", because in the first version it's the "PMS" part that jumps out at me. By scrambling the letters, it's less likely to produce childish giggling. (i think).

My club meets in Southend branch of the Royal Navy Association.About 25 blokes mostly aged 40 plus and one teen.Friendly bunch.Chatted about each other's models and the Telford show.Theres a chap who deals in models and brings the latest ones for us to take out of the boxes and have a look at.Tonight he had the new 1/48 Mig Foxbat amoungst others.I bought a Classic Airframes Defiant and Heinkel HE51 off him for £10 each.

I was going to go to my local one this month but couldn't get my shift swapped.

Better luck for next months competition.

Thanks.Al the members each vote for the models they think are best in each class. Then the votes are added up and the one with the most wins.In my class I voted for an Airfix Spitfire mk19 in Swedish markings. It was better than my model and the winning Skywarrior in my opinion.Others may have been drawn to the Skywarrior because it was so big and dominated the table.Perhaps I should build my 1/48 Lancaster or b24 Liberator next!.

I think you need to be either an exceptionally good modeller or the only entrant in your chosen class to win at my local IPMS. The military vehicles class is very very high quality, likewise the 1/72 and smaller aircraft. But it's great to see the work of others......and we have a bar.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

Sorry you didn't win Dave and I agree do a big build next month ,

I take it the sections aren't by scale but by aircraft , armour and such

I think that's a little unfair really because large builds you can make weathering and detain more prominent

Am I still right in thinking the IPMS still only allow the use of plastic? So any other medium is not allowed? If this is the case it is what would put me off. I enjoy modeling in any way I see fit and not to comply with a set of rules and I think as such media as PE becomes more and more widely used they need to move with the times a bit quicker.

It's just a bit of fun really and a chance to look at and discuss other peoples work.
