Gecko amphibious LARC-V

Thanks gents.

I've used the suggested colour, FS30257 but it's a bit yellow for my taste. I know it'll tone down along the way but I'd rather have something I like the look of than be accurate, so I'll start with a filter coat of Desert Sand and hope that does the trick.

Preshade has worked well. Easy to obliterate if too heavy handed with the top coat. It does look a bit yellow but as you say these things must have faded badly so a filter should knock it back.
You're doing a great job on this quirky model.

Check out the Ausy LARCs, they have a distinctive camo scheme and they had a lot of them. The US used a lot in VN, some sand, some light grey.

I'm still tootling along with this one.
The colour is more to my liking now and I've done most of the detail painting.

Next job are the screen wiper assemblies, each made up of 3 small plastic pieces and pe arms. There are supposed to be three of them but we'll see how many (if any) survive my heavy handed attempts 😂

It needs some more weathering but we'll see how that goes. I wouldn't imagine they got too dirty, dipping in & out of the sea as they do, but I'm sure some more streaking or similar would look appropriate.

Thanks again Paul.

I think I'll be calling this done now. I've been scratching my head where to go with the weathering (not my strong point), so maybe it's time to let it be.

Unfortunately the dinghy won't fit in the rear but that may pop up somewhere else later.

Thanks for looking in, and here are a few finished snaps:

Absolutely gorgeous Andy, that paintwork looks stunning, it really suits it well.

Lovely work Andy and so neat and clean.
My work is always such a mess.

Jim.
Thanks Jim! I wish I could capture a fraction of the realism you do

Beautiful
Thank you. Not a subject I would have chosen myself but I enjoyed building it, even if I left a lot of the PE in the box 😂

Thank you Andy, much appreciated.
Many of my dios and vehicles are stuck in tiny pic limbo, maybe to never be brought back to full image.
Many have been canabalized but some do still exist.
Should I reshoot what I can and repost? I lost hundreds of pics when my old pc crashed, so can't just simply re-post.

Jim.

Losing all those pictures must have been incredibly frustrating Jim, I send a backup of mine to cloud storage just in case something similar happens.

The tiny pic situation is very frustrating too. I know John has worked hard to fix it but I'm not sure if it ever can be fully returned to normal.

A reshoot would be great for those of us that enjoy your work, but a big undertaking I'm sure. One thought - I know John has recently uploaded a backup copy of the old forum. Can the pictures be grabbed from that? I've not looked into it but that might be an option.

Hi Andy, yes I was given the backup site but cannot access it for some reason.
Maybe you could try it's https://readonlyforum.scalemodelling.co.uk/ rather lengthy I know
but give it a shot just for shits and giggles. Who knows maybe John might not want me to crowd the forum
with re-shoots.
There would not be near the amount of previous pics as I have canabalised some dios to create others over the years
and with losing all my pics there is no other records left 😢

Yes, there's a special login to view the site.

John has posted it up in the supporters section at present. I'm not sure if there's a reason for that so obviously I'll respect his choice and not share it here.
