Just to say hi and share some stuff I have done and I am working on. My passion is for ships and ocean liners.

Attached are a 1:200 carpathia, Lucy 1:250, great western and nomadic which I am working on.

Also there is the big piece, titanics boilers, propellors and whistle. I like doing large specific parts of ships too.

Glad to be here and will post more as time goes by.

James

Welcome James 👍

There are a few fellow ship builders here so you will be in good company.

I’m not a ship builder, love seeing others work but they are a bit too intricate for me.

Geoff.

Cheer Geoff,

They are pretty heavy going alright with the detail but I love doing ocean liners and anything to do with the sea. I am feeling around on forums for a good community and this seems to be the best so far.

I will be posting more alright to share my work and ideas while obviously looking for ideas too.

Welcome

Look forward to seeing more

Whereabouts in the UK are you?
Hey Paul,

I am across the pond from you in Ireland near Cobh, I spend quite a bit of time there as well for obvious reasons....lol. I do a bit of photo work on the side too.

Hi and welcome mate. Are those scratch built or from model kits? Enjoy the forums buddy....Cheers
Yes they are, I am very handy with a 3d printer. I got very frustrated with kits not being available so bought a 3d printer to do whatever I wanted instead. It has been very liberating I can tell you. I also wanted large scale models too so I could put plenty of detail.

I've been there(Cobh) couple of times , on round UK cruises, was there last June on a Princess cruise ship, birthed in that same spot I think.

Yes, I was not down then but that ship is coming back in next month again, docked outside the heritage centre which is the old train station. They put on a good show with ladies dressed in edwardian attire and play the brass band as you depart. I also like going into the cliffs for the UK cruises because they sail right by on their return to southampton. I got some great moments over the years like the qe2 last visit in 2008 and the qm2 first visit in 2009. Pretty rare stock these days.

I might temp boatman back, the empress of ireland, normandie, france etc ..... are all on the list to do.

Welcome to the forum James. Just saw your Carpathia model thread. You have some good variety going on with your builds, looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you, yes, too much going on like most other modellers but these models are like hens teeth. I had the old gunze lucy but tbh, I did not think it was very good so wanted to build my own at a larger scale. I dont think 1:350 jutified lucy in any way. Always wanted a nomdic as well but the one I am doing on carpathia is a very special one indeed. I also started mv britannic as well which I will start a thread on. It is 1:600.
