I have this coming in soon. I tried one not long ago and failed at it. Have found my mistake and now will try it again. I have after market decals for it. Should be here Friday.

I flew on Eastern Airlines from CT to FL, stop over at Miami then to Nassau Bahamas in 1983. Nice flight and HUGE interior, wide body. Here's a period picture of passenger loading in Nassau in the late 70s early 80s
The kit has arrived and been washed.

I'll try Joe. Slow start, 14grams of weight in the cockpit-nose gear area.
Fuselage closed up.The seams need sanding.
Windows puttied up and sanded. I had a seam on top that had a slight step so I filled it and will sand it as soon as the putty hardens.
Coooooooooooooooooooooolll! I love the Tristar, I used to see the RAF ones all the time growing up, along with the VC-10's. A great looking aircraft.

A lot of airliner modellers do this Chrisb, so that they can use window decals, or the trim decal comes with the windows already in it - look at this one below, it has the windows for the cockpit and the cabin windows as part of the trim stripe.
I guess it's easier than masking and painting around all those clear parts.
HIYA Darian yes i suppose you are right thanks for tellin me as it is in a small scale would be fiddley at the least but if it was in 1/72 scale then i would mask up the tiny windows an light her up as ive done it several yrs ago how are you likeing the forum sir ? as i see you have been quite acttive if only more would be like you

Oh I 100% agree on 1/72 Chris - I'd do the same. But as you said, on a smaller scale it looks good.
I'm liking it a lot - I've not had too much time to post as I always seem to be busy, but you all seem a good bunch and there's some interesting stuff going on. (and I'll remember about the b LOL!

Simple, not all airlines used the same window configuration. Do you not understand that some after market decals , like my Eastern Airline ones, are different?
Different configurations? Really? Interesting, I didn't actually know that - you learn something new everyday.
Thanks, I am still learning myself, I started building at 10 years old and am now 73 years old. Been there done that many times over and I am amazed at all I am still learning.
