Evening all .
Had a great day out at the above today. On the way my pilot suggested a quick stop at Coningsby to see the EUROFIGHTER.

Had to take these shots through the wire link fence. Only a couple as nothing much was happening.

Then on to the next destination at East Kirby. I've tried to get as many mixed photos of the Lancaster, with some close ups , some R.A.F. vehicles,
various items in the hanger including some really nice shots of a 47 YEAR rebuild of a de Havilland Mosquito, where the fitter kindly let me under the rope to get some close us of the weapons, finally a few uniform photos, hope you enjoy.

There were fee paying passengers, who were given a trip down the field and back , including a full engine power display. I was told a two year fully booked list, at about £400 odd for a full day including a mea. Some lucky ones rode in the cockpit, the top gunnery, and the tail ! .

Wow Dude 2, it looks like you had a good time and took some great pics. Thanks for that. It also looks like the weather was on your side. Here, it has rained the whole day and flood warnings are in effect. That Lanc is really sweet and well restored!!!

Part three, if anyone is still awake or not gone down the pub.
Now for some photos of some buildings a very interesting landing arrester , a unknown bit of kit with tracks, very short so maybe for towing planes ? some shots of interiors of control towers re enacted by some models, a few radios and some uniforms .
Right here we go , sorry about the glass reflection, I managed these with out flash in some very dark rooms, why do these places insist on hardly any lighting. ?

Now some from the hanger and a ops room. In the hanger we saw the Mosquito, where I was lucky enough to get some really nice shots of the engine and weapons. Also a few shots of equipment and bits and pieces.

IMG_5172.JPGIMG_5175.JPGIMG_5177.JPGIMG_5178.JPGIMG_5179.JPG

I was unsure of the single barreled gun , 6 up from the bottom, I' sure it must have been for testing. any ideas ?

Looks a grand day out John. I've been meaning to go there for some time, but I never seem to get past Newark!

This room was set out as the briefing room , a large map on the wall

Found this Jeep as we left, suddenly had arrived by the old mess.

This one is for PAUL , look at the " CRAP IN THE BACK "

IMG_5213.JPGIMG_5215.JPG

Just as we were about to get into the car.

IMG_5210.jpgBC24.jpg
A fitting end to a great visit. Hope you all enjoyed, wanted to get those shots of things other wouldn't bother about, like the latches , lights , that sort of thing.
Off for some tea and much watering of the garden.

John.

You can always spot the modellers at any aircraft museum - they're the ones who photograph all the little details!
