Latest Acquisitions (2019)

I had ordered some replacement parts that replace the paper decorations on the well decks they came from mimibrass so I will be ordering some more in the future.20191017_133535.jpg

Thanks for the link. Not the most professional vid but they do show easy it is to service it. Hopefully won't need it for a while but useful nonetheless. Thanks again for sharing.

Andrew
Mine was only 6 months old when I had to strip & clean it, similar to that video.

Others seem to go for years with no issues but at this price point quality control will be sadly lacking so you're bound to get good ones and bad ones.

Postie delivered this pre-order last Monday from Hornby, with another on its way from the UK guess they are filling out the orders before the Brexit…

As I like the band too and even saw them at a gig a while ago, pretty neat to The bomber in model form:

Nice one, I wondered if anyone one would get one of these, I get my chair now for this one, please post build thread for it.

So a friend was helping a neighbour/family member clear our her loft and she came across these very old publications (two are HMSO) and knowing of my WW2 interest thought I would like them - and all free.
I’ve got the Special Operations book, in Dutch — perhaps even two copies, I’m not sure anymore. These kinds of publications, though they are propaganda, are very readable and usually include quite good photos.

An ebay auction win..........................
s & m viscount.jpg
I got this for £6.60 delivered! - I don't know what happened with this model, but ebay has listings for lots of 5 & 10 in bundles at low prices! Overproduction?
The model itself is a simple short run productP1060606.JPGP1060607.JPG
A lot of clean up needed on the small parts, I've seen worse!
The decals look OKP1060608.JPG

The instructions are sparse, to say the least, and you are left to your own research for the positioning of the decals & colour demarcations ( apart from the boxtop ).
At the silly price, it was worth a punt - we shall see how it goes!
Dave

PS be careful if you do an internet search for S & M!!!!!!!!!!! ( it's S&M - no spaces )

Without testing it, I doubt that will make much of a difference, and TBH, adding “models” after it may not help much either … IOW: it’s a somewhat poor choice of name for a company :)

Nice Jakko, didn't knew you're into punk music...:tongue-out3:
Not as much as maybe 20–25 years ago, but my computer still regularly plays songs by bands like Bad Religion, Tilt, Lagwagon, The Offspring (the old stuff, before they got crap a major-label deal), No Fun At All, The Donnas, and similar 90s punk-rock bands. Though I did discover I don’t actually have S&M Airlines …

Ever saw them live?, part rockshow part nonsense:smiling5::smiling5:
I haven’t seen them live, but I kind of wouldn’t expect anything else :)

Different...
Some of these California punk bands had (have?) a habit of recording the odd cover of classic songs. My favourite is this one:

If you like this kind of thing, look into Me First And The Gimme Gimmes :)

Santa was early for me this year, before the trip to SMC a big box from Hornby arrived and this was in it with a grand scheme to paint:

At the show found some kits and add-ons which were on my list and of course some more:
20191021_102502_resized.jpg
20191021_101836_resized.jpg
The bag with the Wolf bits and a Barracuda upgrade was only €10 for a partially built one, the P-3 was only €40 for one kit with 14+schemes and 3 instructions LOL…:smiling5::smiling5:
Oh and the white box under the P51 is an overtrees set of it, got some stencils too so at least two of the six markings can be built.
Finally found a Catalina again to build a Dutch variant and the Stug came via Allen got a Fruil set too following Mr. D’s advice what to get.

The Tankograd issues were handed out for free, would be rude to leave them there and more reference info, with the 109 book even having some b/w pics of an Airfix kit I got (the modelbouw magazine was my raffle win):

Found most of the decals at the vintage corner, got the Fightertown decals for next to nothing, helps to buy in bulk…. :tongue-out3:

Allen D. got the other half of the show:smiling5:....

Ho Ho Ho, Right Bro!!! Uh, Uh, Yea, I only got a quarter of the show really!!! But, "No Kits, No Kits, No Kits", just a box with parts in it, like your Orion or was it the Catalina??? I didn't see Your AFV EOD robot. Was it from the vintage corner???

That Canberra kit looks really nice too!!!

Hope to take pics in the morn to post. Got home at 1500 and was pretty beat. Oh and you forgot to remind me about the Luftwaffe colors for my Storch. I guess we were having too much spending money fun and we both forgot!!! Damn Alzheimers...…….

Prost
