Evening

has anybody had a go with the Tamiya LP paints?????

Heard good things. Do they need thinning?

thanks bob

Yep, love them. I painted my Ferrari F50 and SR-71 Blackbird with them.

Thinned 50/50 ish with MLT, sprayed great, laid down beautifully (over Mr Surfacer 1500), dries quick, grabs well so very resistant to masking and they don't even smell that bad.

I'm slowly moving over to laquers, both Tamiya and Hataka. Highly recommended. :)

Bob, is there a conversion table somewhere?

I was kinda hoping they'd have the same numbers between XF and LP, but it appears not

Good point Andy, feel a good old search coming on lol

I’ll second the Tamiya LP range. I used mine with Tamiya lacquer thinners on my recent Tiger II build.
Also tried the flat clear coat from the LP range and can confirm it is both flat and clear :nerd::smiling5:.

Stupid question. I assume tamiya do LP matt and gloss varnishes and the same applies as if you are using vallejo??

Hi Si

I may be a tad thick, but after spraying you would use LP gloss varnish for the decals etc?? My brain hurts lol

Many thanks Paul

I always apply decals onto a gloss surface. You can always seal them in with satin/matt varnish after
