On the steps I did actually use a medium C/A which was more appropriate.
The solder I think would have filled in some detail.

Gone up in price since I bought mine. there are other loe temperature solder pastes on Amazon.

Not sure if you know but a hot air gun is used to send this stuff off.
Been using an oven glove, good quality, to hold pieces to tighten the joint together..

No mate I wasn't aware can you use a normal soldering iron to apply the heat or a little blow torch?

The idea Paul is low heat. With the brass with high heat it might buckle. I use a Dremel heat gun Model 2ooo.
It uses a butane, lighter fuel. It comes with a nozzle for use as a heat gun on low temp solder. Also has an adjustable
heat slide.
Worth having a go with a soldering iron to see what happens.
One thing is you can get the paste into small areas where you may not get the soldering iron. The heat gun is not
a problem as it is just a matter of heating the metal which sets the solder off. Some of the small parts I have soldered

Bit of smell Paul & perhaps some not nice stuff. So I use my paint nose filter thinghy. Also in future a small desk fan to blow away from my nasal area.
As it, in my case, is only minor sessions I cannot see any problems. Electronic engineers are using this daily so would appear the risks are minimal.
Like all things better safe than sorry.

Yes I have had a look Pete. No lead though & there is only about 10 secs in an operation.
Interesting thing all the stuff I have read & not one should be careful you should do this do that.

As mentioned on here the first SeaKing I built is in the archives here.
On that PE from FlightPath I did use C/A. This is my first go at low temp soldering
Does a better job than C/A but it is marginal.

More bespoke work Laurie,You are a master with P.E,I used to do afvs and aircraft and i was hopeless with using etch sets.Have the most clumsy hands in Christendom and i admitted defeat.I shall just sit back and enjoy your Seaking coming to life.

I have the bent finger syndrome. Told it is a Viking thing. Fascinating
as my maternal grandfather was a Shetlander.
Not my finger but that is what has happened. Very difficult getting gloves on.
Fortunate I am left handed the bent finger right handed.
Just wonder what it is like for 3 weeks with just one hand. Just have to rope the
missus in ha ha.
