Roll on the reopening of the theatres, this furlough is costing me a small fortune! :thumb2:

If i'm honest, i'm quite jealous of all the people on furlough. I've had a few weeks off since march last year but apart from that i've been working like a trojan. I look at all my mates who are on furlough and see what they've done to their houses and gardens with their 'time off'.

Key worker status isn't all it's cracked up to be.

For me The Mrs has her own hobby now so it's easy to sit down in the evening for a couple of hours :smiling2:

Like wise, I’ve never had a day off work although I have worked from home as my job is computer based so office isn’t necessary for me. I ve had a little more time without the travelling back and forth but probably found myself working more hours that would have been spent in the car.
That said, with so many Losing or lost their jobs I feel one of the lucky ones.

It gets boring - both of our sons on the other hand, have worked pretty much as normal, eldest (my main model critic - he'll pick up on things like the fact that I've got tyres muddy, but not the figures boots!) is a fuel filling station attendant & he hasn't had any time off, youngest (my shooting buddy) building supplies yard staff/relief driver only had a few weeks in the first lockdown off - the rest of it he's been working as normal (his partner has been home schooling my grandson & working during the evening - grocery shop assistant).

I work in performance improvement in a hospital (full time plus many many extras), sometimes 6 days per week. The wife is a senior lecturer at University.

As such, we spend non-work time together, so my hobbying has to be in company. As such then I don't really have a 'bench' - everything I do is done in my armchair on my coffee table! I have to be rather careful...

It probably makes an inefficient process - constantly getting up to raid the toolbox, but I don't think making a hermit of myself would do much good to my marriage!

The way I see it, my work is all deadlines, so I don't set any for hobbies. If this boat takes three weeks or three years, no problem. Indeed, I tend not to do any modelling from April to October, outdoors beckons.

Annoyingly I've gone from modelling whenever I like for however long I like (I'm retired and live alone) - apart from when my cats demand attention - to zero 'cos of my shakes. Definitely suffering from withdrawal symptoms! Still, my MRI scan is due soon so hopefully they can find what's wrong and put it right.

How do I manage my modelling time.....
Having spent about 30 years living in a truck doing long distance continental work, I swore that come retirement I would do what I wanted - did not work out SWMBO made sure of that, for the first six months to a year it was decorate this and decorate that, go here, don't go there, shopping (how I hate shopping), do gardening (see shopping) dig this hole here, go see neighbour, they need a hole digging or radiator hanging back on the wall (yes it did happen)....
But now the silliness has calmed down and SWMBO has realised that I do not look very attractive in my maids uniform I now have a reasonable daily routine which goes something like this:-
9 - 10 am, Myself and the three dogs decide to get up.
10 - 11 am, Breakfast, Wheatabix x 3 for me, milk that is left for the dogs 3 heads down, three tails up... This is followed by reading and commenting on a news forum, that gets rid of the aggression built up through the night from SWMBO's snoring and talking - (I went for a covid jab, she got a new lining on her tongue....) This also means it is tablet time for me and half a gravy bone for the dog (taste a bit like airline pretzels) and finishing off the first cup of tea of the day. No phone calls to make as no on calls me... (Oh the peace).
11 - 12-45am Out for a walk, meeting other dogs, trying to train the new dog (Dog #4 has just been re-homed due to getting aggressive with his 'brother') and then back for lunch and swear time at the news on tv. Any dogs or animals on tv then #2 dog swears at tv....
1.30ish to 5.00pm Modelling time.
5.00 - 6-00pm Dog feeding time followed by human feeding time.
The evening is then followed by either a movie or if there is a programme that has joint interest watch that. If it is a programme SWMBO decides she wants no derogatory comments or other noises aimed at it, I then vanish to my model room/den/hovel and get some more work done.
Bed usually occurs about 11-00 pm and read for half an hour.
And I find that now works very well and meets all requirements according to SWMBO as it means I am out from under her feet for at least 15 hours a day.
