How about mixing some acrylic paint with the filler before you spread it out?
Good idea Jim,I'd have to get the overall colour done for the rest of the remaining render. Wouldn't be too much cost as would use cheap acrylics.
You'll see in a minute some tests I'm doing with adding PVA to the filler mix. Hopefully this will make the sheets I've done stronger for the fallen render . The next stage after it's dried is a gentle sand, if the PVA will allow .Then I was going to put a coat of flat varnish . Hopefully this will stop any of the filler mix from damage when I paint.Of course If I did as your suggestion it would have been already painted
Late to this (what else is new...:rolling:,)-looking fine, John I am pulling up a chair mate :thumb2::thumb2:
Welcome , Steven tea or coffee ?
Apologies for missing this John, but glad i've finally dropped in for an update, It's looking mighty fine so far mate.. :thumb2: :thumb2:

Hi Chris,no problem the first part was rather boring just gluing the base anyway .Thanks for looking in .
John,
Looking good mate the buildings are really taking shape.
Hi Paul, well they were ! just broke a section off ,much grief :surprised:.The bottom right hand side took a knock sanding. Now glued back on thankfully.
.
Coming along very nicely Mr Race :thumb2:
Hi my friend, thank you . :thumb2:

Having just repaired the bottom right hand as mentioned to Paul,my fault trying to sand with out full support underneath.
Still it's ok , the glue will dry fully over night .
Hopefully the filler test will dry and well .
Thinn the mix with the PVA will take a little longer.

Some additional filler added where it looked too thin .

These two photos show 4 sections of filler PVA mix . Not bothered about the folds in the backing paper, half of it will break up when the paper is removed.

IMG_20231007_183401787.jpgleft hand side is straightforward filler mix, while the right has PVA added .Just want to see the reaction when coated with a thin coat of mat varnish .
Thanks for looking in.
Jr

Very kind of you Dude1. No instructions to fathom out,no damned plastic tracks:angry:
Just fun now .

Thanks Jim:smiling2:

No problem Tim.
Really enjoying figures these days, got some new brushes as your suggestion from Rosemary now very much easier .

The best part Rick :nerd: I believe Matron is currently looking for Andy Smith after he said he was going to build a bi plane , shock horror :surprised:

Fully agree Dave, all the render would have landed on the road, I'll make up some flat sheets of filler spread out onto some greaseproof paper . Will have to add a little PVA to strengthen it. Don't know if to add a coat of mat varnish and then paint. Adding water to the surface of the dried filler will weaken it .Thinking hat on .
Good suggestion thanks
John i hope you don't think I was criticising or telling you what to do it was just a observation/ thought on the recent job we did i feel awful now especially as your trying to litter the place with render/debris sorry mate Dave.

Don't be Dave , I knew very well you weren't being like that . I normally have a tub of thin sections , your post was a reminder. PM sent.
