Lee Drennen’s 1/72 Matchbox Gloster Gladiator R.A.F. No.73 (Fighter) Squadron Digby 1938.

Back in the day, I had this Gladiator with a thought to back-dating it to a Gauntlet
More fool me
But that might have been less effort than the Pegasus Gauntlet that took me twelve years to finish

Well I don’t think I’m going to get this across the GB finish line but I’m going to try to be close. Here’s some updates. It’s primed and ready for paint 7CA14BC7-C9F6-4727-8340-374A0078CBE9.jpeg4A6A8048-1A90-4A43-B126-0B1EDD8CB283.jpegF4E04BAB-F2D6-4B1B-950D-148B0EDE5C68.jpegBC64C07F-80A9-4C09-ACDB-5A7699742D24.jpeg6F4FC82D-6BA1-4500-8A14-17379241C99B.jpegE93115BC-7C43-4FF4-91BB-B8F348658CC9.jpegE863C126-3BE7-4B77-9A0B-AE0F27C24E9F.jpeg81686469-5F6F-402A-BC6C-6AC130E9444E.jpegBA61D250-65BD-4BD8-998B-9E453EC55094.jpeg

Great stuff Lee not my thing but always enjoy reading the wingy builds ,yes its stirred a lot of child ,youth in my case memories but quite sad no persons of a younger stamp have piped in with a big"WHAT YOU HAD TO BE JOKING" to wich we could have replied no this was the dogs the best pocket/first wage packet money could buy ,I wonder how prices compare now with then ,todays tec in design and production kits should cost about the same as then wich would make em as cheap as chips ........nice thought anyway. Dave
Ps if some of you lovelys have some thoughts on this stick em up on a chit chat bit somewhere to keep Lees build on track. :thumb2:

Thanks David. I’m sure the price would be up there with the modern Airfix stuff I have to tell myself when I was building this that it was made in 1973-74 because of the way it’s design to go together was and fit.

The plane triggers something in me. I think I built this once as a child...

Hi Lee,
That's looking fine.

I spent some happy years living at RAF Digby in the late 60's. A lovely place .

Yesterday while still in the mood to paint I got the top wing painted. Hope to get more progress done on this one today. 176EB39B-217E-4EAD-842C-64AF8C3CB804.jpeg

After many attempts trying to putting that top wing on it broke while I was trying to get the other side to fit. I think I’m done with this Model this has got to be the worst fitting Bi-Plane I’ve ever built. I was going to do a old 1/72 scale Revell kit which I’ve built a coupe 3 times I should have gone that route. So I’m putting this away maybe I’ll go back to it sometime. 19B4385C-2857-43C4-A3EC-9F72AEE945DC.jpegEFC44A85-C100-42E2-871C-D70A926310C1.jpeg

Bad luck Lee, nothing worse than when you've tried your best and those struts keep moving every time you attempt the top wing.
