Well here is my entry for the GB, 1985 DTM winner. Volvo 240 turbo by beemax, looks reasonably straight forward, no engine, comes with a mask set. I'm gonna try my hand with a figure at the wheel.
Not sure this is gonna look right without a towbar for the caravan though :thinking:1000003682.jpg1000003683.jpg1000003684.jpg1000003685.jpg

I have never seen a 2 door version of these, only 4 doors and estates.
They were made in rhd so I assume they were officially sold in the uk,but most volvo buyers had 2.4 kids so unpractical for most I guess. Turbo version was only made in lhd though due to parts fouling issues.

Cool Kit Mark! Loved watching them race in the WTCC and other TCC, as well as the DTM. Didn't they also use a turbo diesel in them for racing. They used to let out a big puff of smoke when downshifting or such. Or maybe I'm having a senior moment........

I used to enjoy the station wagon version in the BTCC, it was really quick.

Not sure diesel engines would be up the task back then,I could be wrong. They did do some race testing in 2002 using diesel.

I think you're right Mark. The diesel ones were the newer body style and painted silver and blue. Just can't remember when though. Sucks to be old....

So while everyone else has been cracking on I've not been sitting idle,
Underside painted black ,engine, gearbox painted along with all the suspension parts, steering rack etc.all dry fit at the mo. Haven't worried to much about a few mould lines as after another photo or two none of it will ever be seen again. Roll cage glued together also.1000003721.jpg1000003722.jpg1000003723.jpg1000003724.jpg

So getting the driver to fit was my biggest concern as I have a complete lack of experience with figures, he's arms are to bent at the elbow to reach the wheel and moving the seat forward wasn't really an option as I will have to leave out the pedals as it is. I have attached at the shoulder drilling and using brass rod this let's me bend the arm to how I want it and straightened out the elbow by sawing it through and again a brass pin so I can bent to shape,he can now grip the wheel, the other arm to do then get filling.1000003735.jpg1000003734.jpg1000003739.jpg1000003733.jpg

This is why I don't do figures, wish I had the skill and imagination you obviously possess. Will his helmet clear the roll cage?

So many entries in this group build that I'm having trouble keeping up!

Nice work so far and well done on getting the driver to fit.

I used to own an 850 estate, like the ones Volvo used later, in turbo 4wd guise. A surprisingly quick way to move furniture :tears-of-joy:
