Used to own a house in Kingswood Avenue, High West Jesmond.
Sold up and moved away in 1980 when I went Sarf to work for BAe in their mock-up shop as a modelmaker.
We used to get a dollop of rum in our morning tea when the cooks brought round what was laughingly called a 'hot' breakfast' when on exercise in the UK, watching the scrambled eggs swimming around in water was enough to put me off them for life. We soon learned to buy a camping stove and gas bottle.....

Obviously, I know Clayton Street. - My uncle Oz lived in Jesmond. It sported a nice lake/pond for sailing model boats. That was where another uncle lost his Cutty Sark when a smart ar$e smashed into it with a RC motor boat. I wasn't very old at the time but always remember the sinking of the Cutty Sark!!!!
Xmas day at Bovi. GSM always came round with his 'gunfire'. Coffee - heavily laced with rum. - Rest Champion that were!!!

HI Ray well you asked to see my freinds HMS TIGER build in 1/96 scale well this is about far as he has got AN HE IS BUILDING THE GUN CRUISER as i have built the helo cruiser so that way we got one of each hope you like his build as i think he has done a fab job so far

After a short deliberation with myself, we have decided to cancel the lines! HOWEVER. Should a future 'the' appear in front of HMS. The full wrath of the buffer, (the man who dishes out the dirty jobs - and holder of the ships paint brushes), will descend upon you from on high.

Looks great...
I notice the use of wood for deck/superstructure. I have used plasticard for F57, and was planning same for Blake.
What type of wood is that as might go that route instead. Try a new skill....
It would avoid all the strengthening structure I needed for the plastic...

Well Ray my mate is comin over tomorrow with his wife so i'll ask him then what wood he used an i'll tell you on here but i used 4mm ply on my tigers deck an it dint warp through heat at all but plasti card may do but i did use one mm thick plasti card with 4mm sqaure balsa strengheren' s an i kept the S/S as light as poss to watch the top wheight but she still needed a metal keel wheight as she is a big ship an sits out of the water about 2ft high so a lot of the ship for the wind to catch an blow about an she sat just right at her water line so i was pleased

Welcome to the mad house, as a side I was born in Gateshead, but left there is 1950 and travelled the world with my family in the RAF.
 
Welcome Ray we must have been in the RN around the same time (1980) my first was HMS Leander enjoy your stay :)
 
HI Ray the wood my mate paul used obechce wood for the supports an marine ply for the deck and the structure in his model.
