Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

From a distance, it does not look like much has been done however, I managed to get all the hatches in place, all the handles for said hatches, all screens have been final installed, the MG ball was located and filled and sanded, you can't see them but the lower sponson plates are in and the...

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

I have now unleashed my secret weapon....that's right, the unbeatable resin track assembly with full track face detail! What will become of the 1-72nd scale competitors when they see that they have been outdetailed by the lowly 1-87 scale model, vying for a position in the world of acceptable...

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Spent the morning adding the block off plates for the driver's second periscope and the Panther A antenna location on the rear engine deck. After that it was knock of the molded on blobs over the tops of the crew periscopes and fabricate and install those little beauties. I tried (not very...

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

I had a "screening" session this evening and managed to get all of them roughed in....naturally there will have to be some smoothing of the edges before they are permanently fixed in place. I also had to do away with the deep fording air intake on the rear engine cover.

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Mission accomplished......as I said earlier the corners aren't as round as the prototype but I think it serves the purpose. I'll try and refine them a bit more before I give it a coat of Mr. Surfacer 500 and the stiff brush treatment to simulate cast armor.

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Next up was the one piece barrel....a stand out feature on most early models although, there was comingling of stocks, as two piece barrels can be seen on both early and late configured vehicles. The next challenge will be to reconfigure the cast housing around the gun shield to the non bolted...

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Here's some more progress.....both rear decks removed and early deck glued in place on what is now, "roughly" speaking an early Jagdpanther. More later. :thumb2:

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Thanks Guys, First I had to find a suitable "donor" for the most obvious part of this operation. It's a junk model of a Panther D I got with a bunch of other stuff some years back. I stripped the paint off and it's now ready for surgery.

Rick's 1-87 Scale Trident Jagdpanther Conversion

Since I already have a Late version of this model built up, I thought I would try my hand at converting a late version Jagdpanther into an earlier version, but not the earliest. My ref for this build is Spielberger's Heavy Jagdpanzer.....it's a collaboration with Hilary Doyle and Thomas Jentz...

Help with Cements and other oddities...

Thanks Gentlemen, I now have an idea of what to expect when I try using these various products. I wasn't sure about the decal setting solution as it was a little "milky" looking and is that normal? All the other setting solutions I have had experience with were clear. Here's the next mysterious...

Help with Cements and other oddities...

As the title suggests, I need some help regarding purposes of these various products....first up is a row of cements and other liquids from different makers. I have heard folks comment on this, that and the other cements in the past and paid little or no attention as I have always used Testor's...

    Latest Acquisitions (2023)

Who says there's no such thing as Christmas in July!!! These four boxes have just arrived from our friends in California. She got them out of her Brother's Estate, and knowing what a Modeling enthusiast I am, asked if I would take them for the postage to get 'em to Montana. You Bet!, sez I and...

    Scania 770s 6X4 Tamiya R/C 1/14

Yes Ian......I can safely say there is a WRONG way to decant.......found out the hard way. I learned that in order to get it into a jar and not every where else, one has to slow down the spray stream to a manageable velocity. I swapped out the spray nozzle on the rattle can with an old needle...

    Rick's 1-87 scale Phanomen Granit 25H Ambulance

JR, I checked all my figs. and no Fatlady!!.....best I can do is Matron dressed up in her (other side) wartime garb, offering a cuppa to the poor lad who's reaching for a few pfennigs in payment. Hope this satisfies your request. I could have her hum a few bars of "Deutchland Uber Alles" if...
