Paul Ts GB 4WD vehicles. Tamiya 1/24 Audi Quattro Coupe by Stefee.

Typical Tamiya kit, no fit issues if a little simplistic. Only non standard parts are tailpipes, carpets and 3D printed door handles. Did not use AM grille as too fiddly. Many thanks to Paul T for organising this build which I really enjoyed. Also many thanks for those who followed the build log...

    Latest Acquisitions (2025)

My missus decided to do the weekly shop at a newly opened Lidl in town and bought me this baby for the princely sum of £19.99. After 31 years of marriage I reckon she might be a keeper.

    Generating AI backgrounds with Gemini.

Inspired by recent people placing their finished builds in a Gemini AI generated background I decided to try it myself with some of my car builds. Here's the results which I think are very effective. All the cars pictured are definitely my builds which have been embellished by the programme, in...

    1/12 1966 Ford GT 40

Did some more detailing today. The narrow braided hose was in the kit but frays terribly so sprayed it with hairspray and painted it aluminium with a Galherri marker. The thicker braided hose is Tamiya. The destructions would have you connect the transmission cooling hoses to the engine inlet...

Further advances on the engine. Hollowed out the core (welch) plugs, added some bolt heads and painted numerous colours. Very light weathering and dry brushing. Dry fitted the exhaust headers and collectors - very happy with the welds but still not sure if too colourful, have to mull it over.

Dry fitted the bundle of snakes exhaust system after adding weld lines to the headers and collectors.

    1/12 1966 Ford GT 40

Decided to leave the overscale drive belt well alone for fear of really damaging something so decided to bling up the pulleys a bit to divert attention. Fabricated the coolant pipes from and to the water pump which will disappear into the tunnel of the cockpit and reappear at the front and onto...

    1/12 1966 Ford GT 40

Starter motor, coil and water pump scratched and hollow backed alternator filled and detailed a little. Contemplating wether to make the auxiliary drive belt more realistic but will mostly be hidden when fitted.

    1/12 1966 Ford GT 40

Finally finished scratch building the distributor and HT leads and hopefully in the correct firing order. Covered the top of of the timing cover and starter motor + coil WIP. Studying the kit engine and photos of the 1:1 there is a glaring ommission- no water pump supplied so will try to make a...

Next to appear whilst paints, glues etc. dry on other builds. This kits manufacturer is not named but a direct copy of the Trumpeter/Magnifier offering with extra decals to do Ken Miles car. Loads of very well packaged sprues and pipes, hoses, springs, screws, PE etc. The mouldings are crisp and...

    What's on the Bench 2025

Finished the dash and interior but considering adding lap belts which were an option as apparently. Note the position of the handbrake lever and tiny decal for the gear positions on the gear know.

    What's on the Bench 2025

After several hours of flatting and polishing I managed to achieve a decent finish. Some small sinkage marks are present around the ejector seat roof panel and bullet proof shield but will live with them. Now to mask and apply chrome in the relevant places. When completed I will wax and ceramic...

    What's on the Bench 2025

Got some more of the DB5 done. Adding piping to the seats and door panels and completed the floor pan and running gear. Just dry fitted the unpolished body to check the stance - wheels just loosely fitted. Being a snap together kit means if you paint the parts you have to open up all the holes...

    What's on the Bench 2025

Decals and 2k clear applied, some dirt inclusions and minor sinkage around the sunroof and bullet shield inserts to be flatted and polished when fully cured. The boot handle/ no. plate light housing was provided as all chrome but should be 1/2 painted and badged as per the photo. Front bumper...

Base coat of metallic Dubonnet Red applied and pleased with the result so far. Couple of days curing then decals and 2k clearcoat before chrome trim etc.

    What's on the Bench 2025

The one that got away, Aston Martin DB5 (1/24 by Revell). Many moons ago a customer commissioned us to completely restore his 1964 DB5 Superleggera. After sending the engine, gearbox and differential back to Newport Pagnell for overhauling and receiving it back in RSA it transpired that he was...

    Revell 1/24 Selby Cora 289

Well it's finally finished after a fashion, very nearly ended up in the bin several times. This is generally a very mediocre kit (originally tooled in 1963?) which has driven me to heights of frustration I didn't know existed. Tons of flash and mould lines on the majority of sprues but worst of...
