Slow progress on this as the clean up of the parts is taking absolutely ages. Removed all the thick chrome and found some nice details. Will be trying Proscale paints chrome paint system which is apparently the bees knees and very resistant to tarnishing/ wearing. Added BMF to the bonnet hinge...- Stefee

The kit is marked 2001 but the tooling dates back to 1982 and boy does it show. After completing 3 Tamiya car kits on the trot this one certainly demands alot more attention. Loads of flash, seam lines like the Andes, trenches like the Marianas, sink marks like The Great Hole At Kimberley...- Stefee

Stefees Revell 1/600 Star Trek USS Enterprise with extras
Short update but took 4 hours concerted graft. 1 nacelle both PE grilles built (fiddly) and kit grilles removed. No light blocking done and colour is much more blue than photos show. Photo 1. Quick update. Not too much progress due to a self expanding SWMBO list magically appearing! PE arrived and is very delicate but nicely detailed with good instructions. Well I finally paid off the mortgage last week so, of course, had to treat myself. Loads of plastic, chrome, PE, seat belt material, nuts, bolts, pipes, hoses etc. all for £72.00 delivered. It is a no name kit but exactly the same as the Trumpeter and Magnifier kits. Parts are really nicely... -

Guess the next build!
Since my 2 group builds are virtually finished I intend to go back to my usual schedule of 1 car kit and 1 other genre build running in parallel. Whilst out on my daily walk I saw this small drainage inspection plate which made my non car build decision for me. Any guesses what it will be? -

Well everything that needed to be white/decaled and/ or gloss has been done. The 2k clear has helped to lessen the decal disasters thankfully. Off into the airing cupboard, after off gassing the solvents overnight, for 11 days to fully cure whilst in hopefully sunnier and drier climes. Probably...- Stefee

Well it's official, myself and Tamiya decals are not friends. 104 decals and 20 hours later the exterior is finished and so am I. About 25% of the little darlings cracked or splintered and the no. 36 on the bonnet ( and equivalent other side) have 11 decals which were absolute c**p so ended up...- Stefee

Quick update. Usual Tamiya quality and finely moulded details but found 2 discrepancies, maybe due to the 1995 mould date. The 2 bonnet vents were rather crudely moulded however 20 minutes with a knife and sanders fixed that - on the left the kit one and on the right the fettled one. The...- Stefee
