Richard The actual shroud extensions as you call them delight in the name FUTTOCK shrouds. The Catharpins are horizontal weaving that tie together the two sets of shrouds (port and Starboard) just below the tops. On this photo you can see the catharpins joining the two sets of shrouds...- wotan

Richard I admire your patience, for this long job. Don't forget that the rope through the blocks should have a loose end that is simply coiled down on the deck. Richard Very creative way to build these blocks. They are always very fiddly and I hope yours work out. Just as a model here is one of my naval blocks. Richard These are of a very dusty HMS Unicorn I built some years ago. You can see how the rigging runs through two blocks, is fastened to the hull and the loose end is coiled down on the deck. Hope that helps. John- wotan

I have been trying to learn a new model making technique. The learning curve is quite steep but after a month I am beginning to see some progress. For me this is ideal, no smelly paints or glue, no tools required infinite range of models can be built, and the required storage space for finished...- wotan

Peter There are a number of products you could use. Green Stuff, and Magic Sculpt are two that are very commonly used. The below is a sculpt using Magic Sculpt. Although you won't need to go this far. Best of luck John- wotan
