Colin M's Airfix 1:72 Ford Tri motor

It has three engines (they couldn't afford four) and is made of old sheds. Brilliant. For an old kit, it wasn't too bad. Since returning to the hobby in 2008, this is the second civilian aircraft I've built. I better be careful, I might be developing a habit.

    Gruman F6F-5 Hellcat, Eduard 1:72

It's done. It wasn't a complicated build, just a lack of time. This is the Profipack kit, including everything except paint and glue. This is not an aircraft that was high on my 'like' list, but now it's built, I quite like the look of the little thing. The kit, yes, it is recommended. Any...

    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

1:72, yes I agree. My last build was a 1:48 Javelin, it took forever. 1:72, it could be the future, as long as my eyes hold out. Right you clever lot. Can you see the problem?

    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

Moving on, we have wings. These are push-fit, no glue needed. Well, I did dribble a bit on just in case, but it really wasn’t needed. And then a bit of primer. Which fortunately showed no problems. so, with nice fast drying MRP, no point hanging around, give it 30 minutes and on with the...

    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

Then of course, we go and hide it all in the fuselage. There weren’t any location pins on the fuselage, location was mainly done by the cockpit. And the other side. unfortunately, all seems needed a little bit of work.

    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

Posting problems aside, I’ve done a bit. The cockpit, complete with tiny throttle levers. And another angle. And the other side Mr Eduard gave us a nice bit of detail there.

I’ve checked on the big computer and indeed, the pics are missing, although my phone and kindle show the pics in place. Let’s try again. This is the kit. The sprues. Nice well moulded bits and pieces. A close up of Eduard detail. Before I go any further, let’s see if these post correctly.

    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

Well this little build started with the wife telling she out on Friday night, also busy on Saturday and out with dau no.1 on Sunday. Brilliant, perfect for a nice little build. And here it is. This has been waiting to see some daylight for a few years now. Actually, if the Cosford posse...

    Latest Acquisitions (2024)

I've bought something really old. I saw this going for an ok price (inc P&P) I've always fancied one and with next years 'Build an old Airfix GB' I went for it. New tool in 1968, same as me !

Gloster Javelin FAW 9/9R Airfix 1:48

I've built a thing. I started this a while ago, then, breaking all my rules of modelling, the 'One thing at a time on the bench ' rule, I got distracted by two group builds and a new tool Airfix Bulldog. But anyway, here I am, finished. The Airfix 1:48 Gloster Javelin. A very nice kit. There's a...

    What's on the Bench 2024

This is all you’re getting just now, you’ll have to have a bit of a guess. Except to say, it carries four firestreak missiles.

    Hawker Tempest MkV Eduard 1:48

What great luck, a wet Sunday. The garage was tidy, as was the shed, so the only thing left to do, finish the Tempest. JN571, was the aircraft of Wg Cdr Ronald P. Beaumont DSO, DFC & bar, CO of 150 Wing, Newchurch, June 1944. 150 Wing task at the time of the invasion of Europe was to provide air...
