Tamiya Simca 5 Staff Car
Ok .... just a few odds and ends progressed really as I want to leave the wheels, doors, bonnet and some of the internal gubbins off to paint prior to final assembly .... Here is a couple of photos anyway .... spare wheel, rear view mirror to go on front lights, bumpers and number plate...- toto

Back up in dounreay until friday so nothing on the diorama build until then. This weekend will be a bit of a mixed bag as I've ran out of my standard grey cobbles sk will need to move the dioramaout the way to make room for cobble mould productions. :D also I hope to be setting up my small...- toto

Reading through the destructions again, there wont actually be that many more parts to assemble before priming and painting. I will get what there is to be done completed tomorrow night whilst i'm back up in my digs in Dounreay. The plan is to have all the garious parts ready for painting this...- toto

I know the above looks a bit rough but once the hole is formed etc, hopefully, the car will be sitting in more of a natural position. Thats what i meant about bringing the explosion zone, the Simca and the surrounding area all together rather than building each element individually ..... hope...- toto

Ok ..... back on the Simca 5 build for half an hour or so ....... The next steps 4 and 5 show installing the seats, handbrake, gear stick, steering column and driver. but I'm not having any of that as I want to prime and paint the inside and do the smaller parts including the seats a little...- toto

OK ..... back in the saddle ..... No hangover from last night so I made the mancave after all ..... We start of by creating the explosion crator to try and inject a bit of life into the scene and detract from cobbling for now .... so its out with the balsa wood to start to create a...- toto

There maybe a little more progress tomorrow although I don't expect it to be much. I have some business paperwork to take care of before haeding back up to Dounreay on Monday morning ...... holiday over for now. and 1 for minitnkr .... The two newly arrived ( this morning ) moulds for drain gratings etc ...... I'll try them out at some point soon ..... but they do look fragile moulds , could be fun. Also some brick wall moulds in stretcher bond .... and for pillars etc .... cheers for...- toto

OK ..... just spent the last 3 hours in the mancave ..... and these cobbles are closing in from all directions around the explosion zone ..... going blind with them .... 😂 and another ..... its coming along .... and the last shot for today as I will be calling it beer time shortly...- toto

Thinking ahead to the crator ...... I was thinking of using DAS air drying clay to for the crator but now leaning towards Modroc bandage plaster instead. The Das could still be used to supplement the build once the crator shape has been created. The jury is still out on that one yet but I will...- toto

I'm thinking about making two orthree " test boards " to try some different grouting and weathering techniques on some cobbles before commiting on the main diorama itself. Say a three inch by three inch square pad demo board. I wont waste time with it right now until I've completed the diorama...- toto
