    Revell 1:32 D.H. Sea Venom FAW 22

Well gentlemen, thank you for your interest and apologies for the late start. In my defence, my room was taken over by shed load of boxes with the word ‘Christmas’ on them. They are now dealt with, so I can make a start. The cockpit, is a large open space with very little detail in it. So I’ve...

    MGB, Aoshima, 1/24

This was a chrome bumper model, but there are loads of them around and I wanted something a bit different. So I went the Sebring route.

    Revell 1:32 D.H. Sea Venom FAW 22

The Matchbox Sea Venom, re-boxed by Revell will be my next bit of plastic entertainment. There’re three versions in the box, but only one has a shark’s mouth! The sprues stack up into quite a pile. But, it’s an old kit, so detail is scarce. However, there are lots of reference pics on...

Tips and Ideas For How Best to Display Aircraft Models

I've got a few of these, tall but small foot print. A 1:72 B17 / Lancaster fits as does a 1:32 Corsair. And I've heard, you can buy more shelves on ebay.

Colin M's Airfix 1:48 Mustang MK IV completed.

Thank you to Lee for suggesting this Group Build. It was a last-minute decision to join when I thought, any excuse to practice a nmf. What a great kit this was. As I said on my build thread, I was looking for something a little more 'upmarket', however, this was all I could get at short notice...

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

I would leave it there and get one of these. It's been a long time since I've really enjoyed a build like this one. Alclad is pretty impressive stuff. And Airfix, yes this really is a great little kit. Finished. I'll post the pictures in the 'finished' thread, when I find it.

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

It’s always nice to see them standing on their own three wheels. All decals are now done. As ever Airfix have been very generous with the amount of decals provided.

The final bit of yellow is now painted. So, I’ve slapped a few decals on. As expected, Airfix decals are behaving perfectly.

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

Cling film for masking, it’s the future. There’s a rather large yellow pin stripe under all that masking. Then the olive drab anti glare paint was applied. It’s a little bit shiny at the moment, but that’s what MRP does. Masking removed. That’s a great advantage of MRP, it drys so quickly...

And this chaps, is why we don’t vacuum the floor during a build. Found it. After emptying my bin, the vacuum cleaner was next on the list, and there it was. The hydraulic ram from one of my Mustang landing gear doors.

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

Well, I’ve done a bit more, but seem to have forgot to update this thread. Here’s my Mustang, all assembled with no drama, and as Ian pointed out, wing root fit was brilliant. Then a bit of gloss black ready for Alclad. I did make a bit of a mistake here, I used cellulose thinners instead of...

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

I’m not sure when I last managed three nights in a row, but here we are. Just about ready to close the fuselage up. And then, all buttoned up. The fuselage was a really tight fit. Therefore I closed up up bit by bit, clamping bit by bit. I had this happen before with new tool Airfix kits...

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

A touch more of the build, This has to be the strangest “thing” I will insert into a fuselage. The cockpit, air intake and tail wheel assembly. Airfix have you attach the tail yourself, which is great for Airfix, allowing them to provide a different type of tail. However, to get them to fit in...

Colin M’s Airfix 1:48 Mustang Mk IV

And we’re off. This wasn’t my first choice of kit, but I have to say, what is in the box is very nice. Some spruce shots. Some nice detail. Time for a bit of work. This little lot should be the start of a nice cockpit. And so it does, nice stuff Mr Airfix. Airfix provided a decal for...

    Colin M's Revell 1:32 Seafire Mk1b

Yes Jim, I was gad to finally say, 'it's done' - well sort of. How can I have a tatty aircraft, devoid of exhaust staining - it must be a miracle. Or maybe this slightly beyond middle aged person forgot ? Who knows.... But here we are, high lead content fuel, hence a grey exhaust. Yes Steve...
